agreed i couldnt care less about some cup.

the Prem is all that should matter

Yeah, but we're as **** in the PL as well. So it doesn't really matter.

This was kind of needed to boost morale of the fanbase as well as the players.

Give him November. Tonight's experiment shows that fringe players are not up for a fight..... Over to the first team!

The "first team" who have already proven that they are inadequate.

Its not losing, its the way we are losing..............................................NO SHOTS ON TARGET!!

Got it in one...... no problem in getting beaten, put in a shift though

Pity

That's it for me. Irregardless of how strong our team was tonight on paper, it was the opportunity for the likes of De Ridder, Jos, Lee, Chaplow, Mayuka and Guly to prove that they've the balls to step up for the first XI. They didn't. The academy lads proved they had more guile and passion than these other players tonight. Tonight was a chance for momentum, confidence and a good win 6 days before our next game.

I can take a defeat in the CO Cup. Elland Road on a wet Tuesday night isn't easy. But the manner of performances recently, the fact that it's taken us a game and a half to muster a shot on goal, increasingly bizarre/resigned press conferences all suggest to me that something needs changing. And for me that's 44 ****ing 2 or Nigel out.

The club should also refund every fan who travelled up tonight. To compete so abjectly is a disgrace to the shirt. Why enter the competition at all?

adkins has to go tomorrow.......we have an away game next week at a tough place.......so really two weeks before our next winnable game....

I hope nigel resigns and leaves with his head held high and go down as a saints legend

When he does go, when I believe is now the case rather than If, I hope he goes with a good send off from us. I think he deserves that.

Just a shame it hasn't really worked out for whatever reason, but the teams are playing in a way that isn't showing their unanimous support for him.

At the moment you'd struggle to see this team finish in the top half of the Championship.

Right now I'm not quite sure how we got promoted.

We are desperately short of a first choice goal keeper and an entire defence not to mention a midfield.

But why the reserves?

Because someone somewhere in our organisation believes that they can "challenge for first team places" which as we know is rubbish. Some of these blokes weren't even good enough in the NPC when they had a lot of far better players around them to dig them out of the crapper each time. Our recruitment policy has been a disaster, probably because we insist that any club who wants to take one of our rejects on loan pays the entirety of a PL salary. De Ridder,Seaborne,Chaplow all that just shoudn't still be here cluttering up the squad.

From someone at the game. For a team of 11 subs they competed well. Reeves, Chaplow, Guly ( yes Guly) good, no support up fromt Kelvin is still out best keeper, De Riidder And Lee very poor. Ward prowse solid game

Even with a second choice side why can't adkins motivate the team with the chance of getting through to the quarter finals. To carry on playing with one up front when one nil down and then bringing on kids just makes no sense. What was he thinking? Thing is there seems to have been a number of times when I have thought this both this season and last, but we got away with it last season in the most part. This season we are being found out and now against a not brilliant Leeds side is embarassing.

But why the reserves?

Played Sunday, do not want to risk injury, take a look at some other players that might be up for a fight.... The result speaks volumes, but if we won it would have been a master stroke.

Not looking forward to Monday night. A very difficult trip to West Brom and we are going to have our a**e handed to us on a plate live on sky!

Mickey Mouse cup or not we need any result we can get at the moment. 1 shot on goal up to the 86th minute is a disgrace. I've completely lost faith in NA now and I don't think NC will have a much different opinion after that atrocity!

Irregardless is not a word Tom (although I do totally agree with your points, it is the manner of the performances that is key. I think Adkins has lost the players.)

Who cares, this team beat a stronger Everton side.

Everyone grow up and concentrate on the league.

I care, as did the other 600 Saints up here tonight, plus all those Saints fans that might like to see their side play in a cup final or win a trophy. Leeds weren't anywhere near as good as they were against Everton. 4 very poor performances from Saints; Butterfield, Seaborne, Lee and De Ridder - can't see any of them playing for us again. Positives - thought Davis played well, Chaplow lots of energy and Isgrove when he came on looked very lively, bit of potential there.

Sums it up for me, don't know what people were expecting tonight when that team was announced. As mentioned above they beat a strong Everton team previously. Talking about refunds? Get a grip FFS, it's football.

Gutted for Adkins i love him for what he's done for us but the club is more important. Its time for a change.

I'll go along with that. He deserves a decent payoff and our best wishes. I just hope he doesn't try and grimly hang on. Better for all concerned that there is a mutual parting of the ways sooner rather than later.

If we're honest, it seems as if the longer he clings on, the worst the reaction to him is going to become.

Crap stuff from an XI who showed, as a unit, that they aren't good enough to be Championship understudies. Throwing together an XI and expecting them to get a win at a reasonable outfit like Leeds was ridiculous. Club should reimburse those who went (but won't) & I will say sorry to my 6 year old who said that was a rubbish XI before the game & I said they'd do ok. Youthful realism triumphing over ageing optimism!

absolute joke..no matter who we play...what team we put out, we are just so easy to beat.....no good having "spells" of good football for 30-45mins..

we ship so many goals.....the set up is wrong...he is getting it wrong..we are a complete shambles...

4-4 at reading by the way..Theo dragging arsenal from 4-0 down..

So much for a reading confidence boost from a strong side then eh?

Posted

Reserves or not, the tactics and substitutions have been an utter shambles all season. Sorry Nige, thanks for two wonderful seasons but it is clear that this level is beyond you, time for a change to give us at least a chance of staying up.

Posted

So much for these players knocking on the door of the 1st team and great competition for places... They wouldn't even had beaten someone like Swindon had we played them tonight. So fkin angry!!

Good lad that, obviously knows more about football and footballers than many of our "experts". These kids and old hacks are worth nothing.

It's all gone wrong. Seriously, something is not right at Saints now.

You simply don't lose the passion and momentum the squad has had for a few seasons overnight.

Lost the dressing room?

Players bored with training/lost faith?

Adkins lost the drive?

We need a statement from NC stating that in the interests of the Big Plan, no matter what happens NA is our manager until Christmas next year. If he is the man, then make him the man. Continuity rules, we'll accept relegation in light of the longer term.

Or we need a change. Now.

That was pathetic. A cup run would be nice, and no reason at all not to play more first teamers. Waste of time and money, I'm really ****ed off.

600+ saints fans who travelled all the way up there should be refunded ,feel so sorry for those guys and i take my hat off to you!

surely a loss on Monday and that is it for Nigel?, as every week goes by our performances become more gutless and embarrassing. i could of taken a 0-1 loss, but 3-0 to an AVERAGE championship team is too much. even with the team we fielded. Dominated for the enitre game.
