I wonder if this will cause an increase in 3-0 scorelines?

Exactly. Teams will go 3 up and shut up shop. Though having said that, many a time does a team have a player sent off and play better with ten, so maybe it'd be even more of a disadvantage to have 12 on the pitch.

However it'd certainly sort out our striker surplus.

I know the average age of our team is quite low, but this is about youth football. I disagree with Henning Berg about it not being much fun to win 17-0, I remember a game when I was a kid we won something like 26-0 and I scored 6, it was great fun (I was not a prolific goal scorer). I also played in a 33-2 defeat, not much fun, but character building at least. Kids today, to much molly-coddling :-) I notice the local girls league that I used to be Secretary of now have a policy of not reporting the score if the goal difference is 10 or more, but they still record the goal scorers so you can work out the real result.

It's character building if it doesn't happen too often.

My nipper's rugby team lost by over 100 points on Sunday. This was due to a combination of playing a very good team & only being able to put out a weakened team. When it got to 50 the ref asked if they wanted to stop, they chose to carry on and were regulary asked if they wanted to stop, the answer was the same each time, they played to the end. For the last 15 minutes, for a bit of a laugh, they even switched the backs with the forwards (uncontested scrums for those that know). Despite getting a sound thrashing, they all came off smiling & I gaurantee they will all be back for training on Thursday.

My school was like that. Report the wins in assembly but not the losses. I was annoyed too, because the only time I was captain of the 3rd XI we lost 10-1, but I still wanted the head to anoounce it!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/oct/30/norway-fa-12th-player-rule-change

The Norwegian Football Association (NFF) has a novel idea to even out one-sided matches – if a team go four goals down they can bring on another player...

an alternative to that might be ....if one side goes 4 goals up......get Clattenberg to send off one of their players instead .....

All credit to them. Fair play.
