As I understand it mikel did not hear it, it was Ramires who thought he heard something, checked with players closer to the action who heard nothing and still proceeded with the complaint.

Apologies, Ramires, you are right. The guy on the radio said Chelsea officals asked him 3 times if he was sure what he'd heard and he said he was each time and that they had no choice but to proceed under those circumstances.

You would have thought that they should have asked players closer to the action and Mikel himself if he heard anything. If they said no (which apparently they did) then they must surely have realised that there was no way that a complaint would be upheld.

Who knows. I do have some sympathy for them though. Can you imagine the reaction of the media after the John Terry thing if it got out one of their black players claimed they had heard racial abuse, reported it and Chelsea had done nothing? They'd have been crucified. They were in a no win position.
