Oh when the Saints or Oh when the Spurs

Sorry if this has been discussed but I couldn't see anything.

Which set of fans actually won the battle of the OWTS yesterday? I was in the Kingslands North corner so couldn't really hear the Spuds fans but they seemed quiet to be honest

Heard a couple of them in Yates during the Chelsea United game say they thought our support was poor.

Theirs was dreadful, it was just 10 minutes of silence during the first half and they started singing "shall we sing a song for you". Was very strange.

On the stream I watched I heard Spurs sing it and I heard Saints sing it. Overall I think we just edged them.

Best song of the afternoon; after Spurs had sung "we are Spurs, we score when we want", Saints (Puncheon I think) had a shot - probably their first of the afternoon - Saints sang "we are Southampton, we shoot when we want!". Loved it !

" We are southampton, we sing our own song" ... They didn't sing OWTS for ages after that

A lot of confused faces amongst them after that.

Wasn't easy to get any chants to stick in the first half; there was a feeling of resignation throughout much of the ground and that's always going to be difficult to overcome.

When the players came out after the break and showed some passion and commitment our lot piped up a damn sight more - Saints dragged us up a bit and from thereon the noise was much better. I've been pretty critical of the atmosphere at St. Mary's so far this season but it really was a game of two halves on and off the pitch.

Wasn't impressed at all by the Spurs fans. A few half-hearted attempts at singing 'OWTS' (with bizarre hand-waving, and drowned out even when we were at our most quiet) and a bit of 'Yid Army'. Mostly silent after their goal celebrations died down though.

Clearly we did. Even if they had been louder, they were singing our song.

Listening to the radio/telly

It sounded terrible

The amount of times in the 1st half you could hear spurs fans shouting "sshhhhhhhhhh"

I didn't hear any "shhhh"ing, but we were basically silent for the entire first half after the first goal went in. Hardly surprising when we were utterly abysmal on the pitch.

Second half the crowd fed off the players and vice versa - and then the injury and subs killed that momentum.

Watching it on Fox Soccer Plus in the US, the commentator mentioned how noisy the crowd was at the start of the game and followed up by saying "there is always a great atmosphere at St. Mary's." I guess it is all relative but it sounded a whole lot better the most of the other games - at least on the TV. Could only hear Saints fans in the second half.

Right next to them in the Northam myself and very seldom did they make much noise at all. One of the quietest sets of fans I can remember, especially as they had taken their entire allocation.

Frankly, any set of fans that has stolen another club's song is on a hiding to nothing singing it at that club's stadium. It is moronic. All it required was an equal number at least of our fans to sing it at the same time for the word "Spurs" to be drowned out. It then made it sound as if it was just us singing it, with the added bonus that it was louder than if it had indeed been only us.

It was just the same as us singing "pay up Pompey" when the Skates played us in the Cup and they couldn't have asked for more from us in terms of geeing up their players.

But for a team two goals up, their support was truly pathetic. When we pulled one back and looked good to equalise or even win, being next to them was akin to being in a morgue, whereas we were rocking.
