thorpie the sinner Posted 29 October, 2012 Share Posted 29 October, 2012 As positive as our second half performance was yesterday, the game was totally lost after an abject first 45 mins! The players are paid bloody well to perform for an hour and 40 mins once a week, so to put out a performace like that yesterday is inexcusable. If you lose but know you have put in 100%, thats life, anything else is unforgiveable. Fans pay good money to watch and they deserve the team to play to their max. Yesterdays game showed that the players in some cases don't give a monkeys, why I don't know! If it was Adders reading the riot act at half time to produce the stirring comeback, fair play, but 45 mins a week isn't good enough! Faith that we can turn it round, not so sure about Adders, but ultimately it is down to players to sweat blood for the badge. That is the very least I expect, if we go down fighting so be it, if we go down without a whimper, totally unacceptable. Hope the second half performance is the catalyst to a permananent change of mindset and a move in the right direction.
rshephard3 Posted 29 October, 2012 Share Posted 29 October, 2012 If I'm totally honest, the second half, in large part appeared an improvement because Spurs fancied their chances of containing us and holding on. Don't get me wrong, second half more positive than the first, IMO helped by the introduction of Mayuka who must have really been useless in training not to bump Rodriguez onto the bench. Sorry...What !? J-Rod played well vs Fulham, he had a pretty decent game at West Ham, and was probably one of our best players yesterday. His movement is absolutely class, and that goal seemed to help him with his confidence.

As for West Ham, what did he do differently to Guly when he runs around a lot, makes decent runs, looks ok but without being a real threat to the opposition. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a decent player, I just think if he's played in the same team as Lambert it won't work as well as if we had someone with pace like Mayuka to run in behind. I said pre season I'd expect someone of his quality to get 7 or 8 league goals in a season which is ok but not ground breaking.
Saint Garrett Posted 29 October, 2012 Share Posted 29 October, 2012 J-Rod's movement vs West Ham had their defence all over the place, he just didn't have any service. And yesterday I thought he was our MoM. Always chasing lost causes and making the runs. No I'm not one of these fans that sees running around a lot as a good player, but I can appreciate his very intelligent movement - there is a difference. At the moment he is our best forward. As for Guly, every game I've seen him play in this season, I think he has done alrght in.

Whatever anyone thinks about our attack, we might want to have a go at conceding less than 2 goals in a game!!
trousers Posted 29 October, 2012 Share Posted 29 October, 2012 Given we'll likely concede a goal at some stage in most of our games, we should let the opponents score in the first minute of every game then we can spend the remaining 89 minutes in 'bust a gut' mode rather than the last 30 minutes. Simple!
