Manny Mayuka

Mayuka made a good impact today when he came on, and has looked good when I've seen his cameos for us. What are you opinions on him? Should he be starting? Is he better as an impact sub? Are we still bedding him in to the British game? He's only 21 but from what I saw of the highlights today, I'd like to see him get a few full games.

I like him alot, another one who has been affected by Injuries so far this season, but if we can get him on the pitch now we have a chance to make things happen.

Although I can see why NA wants him as a sub, he can definitely effect a tiring team in a game - none of our other subs at the mo really can.

Sadly, with our sh*thouse defence, we're usually behind and chasing the game when Mayuka makes an appearance. Get him on from the start and see what happens (can't be any worse than our current predicament). And I don't know why we're relying on Puncheon, who didn't play for us last season and instead played a bit part role for relegated team.

Last year he played a bit part team for a newly promoted team in the PL (who did not get relegated) and then played 9 times for us in the 2nd half of the season. I think you seem to have missed a season. But I agree Mayuka is far better than Punch who is too inconsistent in my view.

That's what moving abroad for some time does

In any case; Puncheon at top level doesn't do it for me. And Mayuka isn't even a right winger, but does a much better job there.

He makes the 433 work with three strikers. A far better player than Puncheon and his anticipation for covering his full back was also good. He should have been in from the moment he signed. He doesn't need to bed in. As for the bench I think DeRidder should always be one of the 7 because of his pace. If we need to change games he would be more use than introducing another square passer.

Totally agree. Mayuka should start and De Ridder should be on the bench as the "impact" sub. No disrespect to Guly but as an "impact" player he really does not actually satisfy the criteria in the games he has come on in this season. That being the case then others should be given the opportunity to make that impact - either starting or on the bench- Mayuka and SDR being the case in point. It seems entirely logical and reasonable to me. Its not just the starting 11 that are under scrutiny- you have to ask what was the "impact" of the subs too, and this season from Guly in particular and barring that ridiculous dropping of Lambert at City, its been nothing. I was pleased with Reeves impact to be fair - well done lad.

I think Reeves is a revelation. I believe he is 20, he has a high tempo, I think he is worth a go. He looked good in midfield but I was really impressed with his tempo, tackling, and movement, he is an excellent passer with either foot. He put in a first class cross for a goal on the far post v MU U21s after being put in on the overlap by SDR. SDR had a part in all three of our goals in that game. (Obviously not enough for Adkins who was at the game)

Showed enough today to warrant a starting place - even though Rodriguez scored his first Prem goal yesterday, Mayuka might have leapt over him with his inspirational workrate and creativity yesterday. Would love to see him start alongside Rodriguez at Leeds to get some games.

Of course then it's about who you drop. I have an opinion there, but most of you have already read it and I can't be bothered arguing it again. Suffice to say there are plenty of available striker spots and he could get a run at right wing or through the middle.

Having taken the pee out of Reeves for most of last season for being lightweight and hitting the same cut-through sliced pass in every situation, I thought he was excellent up at Stevenage when he came on in centre midfield, really used the ball well and did everything with tempo and accuracy - using sidefoots. ;)

He's not had much of a break and he's going to struggle a little with the physicality of the Prem, but he does have something to offer - anywhere down the left.

He's very agile and pretty pacy too. Work on his defensive game and put him in the gym and he may well become a very good left back!

I really rate Ben, think he will be a good player for us.

I can't believe some would have de ridder on the bench. He has pace but his end product is woeful, don't rate him at all.

it's a known fact at SFC that the less you play the better you get until you actually play and everyone remembers exactly why you weren't playing. Right now our best players are Cork,Ramirez and Shaw.

I've seen him several time snow and each time I feel exactly the same. Great little footballer. Not a left back, but the fact he has dropped in there and done a great job shows what he is made of. He's in the Paul Scholes mould, plays with his head up and has a great eye for a pass. If he turns out to be even half as good he'll be some player. That said I'm not sure I'd pick him ahead of JWP, Morgan and Davis.

Pretty sure Ramirez will be our best player until at least Jan 1st whether he's in the team or not.

Agree with the view that Mayuka should START. I know Adkins likes to hold back one impact player, but I honestly am getting tired of having to come back from one or two goals down before Mayuka comes on. What's wrong with playing your best team from the start?!

I wouldn't be averse to having De Ridder as the impact player. And Guly, well, he just just go out on loan today. He is far too slow for the Prem.
