Wade Garrett Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 I'd imagine along the lines of shocking first half, but better after the break. We'll debrief, watch the DVD and prepare for the next game. No more daft poetry, please.

Miltonroader07 Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 I think NA's days have to be numbered, he has been great for US for I don't think he can "cut the mustard" in the Prem; need to get our act together and sort the back four in the transfer window, we also need to get Cork and Ramirez back and get Mayuka playing more IMO

I am fairly sure that it would take another £30M to get the rest of the team sorted such we can be any where near confident of avoiding the drop. I am reasonably confident that Adkins could take us back to the premier and in the cheapest and quickest manner. It all comes down to what Cortese believes but he will have it all worked out. If we did stick with Adkins there would be no guarantees he would keep his job should he get us re-promoted, because all our problems stem from being unprepared for the Premier from a playing aspect. Faz Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 Absolutely, we were certainly wrong to have sacked Branfoot, Jones, Gray and Wigley. Oh come on - you aren't seriously bracketing him with that lot? And Jones has had a pretty enviable career in the game. We're here ahead of schedule and I for one will not be diappointed if we stick by Nige andf the team as they learn about this league. I'm happy that we've bought players who will grow rather than the bunch of misfits at QPR. Have a bit of faith

trousers Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 Heard an extract of his post match interview with TalkSport a few minutes ago. First time I've heard him citing the various injuries as being a factor in us not getting results (yes, it's obvious that we have been affected by injuries to key players but first time I've heard Adkins overtly mention it in a post match interview). About time he highlighted it IMO.

I would bracket him with the likes of Warnock, Bassett and Jones. Great at Championship level, but not for the Premier. There are better managers available who could do better with our squad. In my opinion, of course. I genuinely believe we could stay up with someone else. I can't see anything but relegation with Adkins, which is a great shame. sambosa75 Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 This. Too many times, this club has made the mistake of getting rid instead of sticking with. Happy for Nigel to continue, even if we go down. Totally agree. If we go down, so be it. We will be stronger for the experience. The club has a vision for producing 50% of the squad/team from the academy. This will not change overnight and rightly so. If it is to our detriment in the short term, I think Adkins and Cortese will accept that. The only time I can see this changing is if Adkins loses the dressing room. Based on today's first half I thought this might be the case but they showed spirit in the 2nd half which I don't think they'd show if their heart wasn't in it. Turkish Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 I don't understand why people think relegation will be a good thing. If we go down Lallana and Ramirez will go, the big clubs will be sniffing round JWP, Shaw and co who can use the old 'I want to play in the premier league' card. The tv money will also be going up in the summer so the clubs that don't go down and come up will be stronger still. Mind you we are two years ahead of schedule so if we get relegated this year it doesn't matter does it.

It's imperative to consolidate to keep our best players, just as it was imperative to go up last year to keep ahold of them as well. Besides, more money gets pumped into the PL next year and it'll be nice to be a part of it.

Which is a load of nonsense.I agree. It is hardly likely that we will manage another start to a Championship season like the one we enjoyed last season - especially after a season of being battered every week and getting relegated. I would hate to become the next Derby County.

Didcot Saint Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 There's a lot of the season left. No we don't want to get relegated and take a backward step, let's take positives from the second half and go again, we're not cut adrift yet so stop panicking. I would rather have Nigel in charge than someone like Rafa who signed clowns like Downing.

Look at the table and our points and goals against, not very positive is it. Would you really prefer Adkins over Benitez? BILLY Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 I don't think changing the manager will actually achieve anything, we just don't have good enough defenders. It will. Someone who doesn't make wierd subs etc to lose us games would be nice. Also someone who plays our best player SRL all the time. Time for a change. NA is out of his depth. We'll be lucky to get back in a short space of time, getting relegated this year will put this club back years - whatever anyone says. Would imagine things will begin to look financially dodgy again too.
Didcot Saint Posted 28 October, 2012 Share Posted 28 October, 2012 Sorry your right, Dalglish signed Downing, still prefer Nige over Benitez though. He is a young manager, albeit still learning with a strong passion for SFC and a loyalty and determination to be successful at our club, and for what it's worth I personally think he will keep us up, just. For Benitez, it will just be another pay cheque who would sign a load of mercenaries who couldn't give a **** and would set the club back millions and still might not succeed.
