I wonder if the Everton messageboards went into meltdown when they lost at Leeds.

No.Of course not. Not necessarily comparing us to Everton at the moment, but it does put tonight's game in to context.

Everton aren't struggling in the league with players that look out of their depth.

They weren't 19th with one win in the league in the first two months of the season though...

For all the usual happy-clappy suspects, WHY are we playing a "reserve" side, when to be perfectly frank the first XI need all the practice, all the help, all the confidence-building, all the opportunity to practice the system expected of them and all the opportunity get used to playing alongside each other that they can get.

I really dont get the club strategy, phillosophy and direction at the moment. For me the club resembles a headless chicken or a ship with no-one at the helm. :(

Totally agree............ Reality is we are hopeless...........68% possession and not 1 shot even off target

I travel up & down the country following Saints at great expense. Tonight because of work i have not gone. Even in pre-season you could see the new formaton was not working. Adkins used to go on about being flexible. We are completely inflexible. This formation is killing us & we are pretty **** - first team, reserves etc. Leeds 8 shots 1 on target - Saints NO Shots........that is disgraceful!!!!

Pitiful, isn't it.

Really can't understand adkins thinking. We've got a 1st X1 back 5 that have barely played together and yet rather than give them a cup game to help them gel he plays a complete reserve team. The whole 1st X1 must be low on confidence and yet they are left at home when we haven't got a game till monday. Really don't get the benefit of reserves being beaten by Leeds.

Your point about pre-season is interesting. I didn't read a great deal into it, as I never do with pre-season games, but Anderlecht and Udenese pulled us all over the show. We look just as bad against the real PL teams.

The Leeds we totally screwed on the first day of last season.

Oh, and about 30m of supposed improvements....

None of the improvements are actually on the pitch though, very few of those who played against Leeds last season either. I just wish we'd put out some sort of decent side though with 1 first team regular in each section..probably decided by drawing the short straw.

this is so similar to the season we went down in 2005.....it really is.

shyte defence, great attackers, dire in the league, letting in goals left right and centre and getting done in at a lower league team in the cup

All we need is two more managers and we'll be there.

Slating the critics is getting really thin and tiresome.

If you REALLY cant tell the club is in crisis, I feel sorry for you.

We were in a crisis just over 3 years ago. Now we are a premier League losing more than we win like most newly promoted sides do.

Enjoy the bed wetting though.

Yes, less worry about a slight risk of getting an injury when we cannot play together as a team and cannot stop making stupid mistakes week-in, week-out. Sod the chance of a practice match to iron out a few things.

Do you think are going to get relegated TDD?

This is painful. Being a Saints fan this season is pretty rubbish.

Yup, I agree with you on that one. It's my kids I feel sorry for. They aren't old enough to remember when we were in the Prem before and now we're making a right pig's ear out of it. Living in London they're getting a fair amount of stick.

If that were the case then I think most would be OK with it. I think it's more the lack of strengthening to the defence in the summer, the weird system that isn't working, odd substitutions, rubbish interviews that seem to gloss over the real issues and the fact that we have one once in 8 league games (and potentially about to crash out of the club to a lower league team.)

We cannot keep a clean sheet, we have conceeded a record number of PL goals after 8 games.

Keep that head buried in the sand....
