Roger Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 So is it safe to say Mayuka to start? How'd u know that?
Jack Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 This is massive now. Lose and we're miles out of sight.
S-Clarke Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 This is massive now. Lose and we're miles out of sight. A defeat would make things very daunting, and would make November even more massive. We'd literately have to win the games against the likes of Swansea, Norwich, QPR to get close to 17th. If we let them get points off us, we'll be getting to a stage where we're completley cut adrift.
sfc4prem Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 This is massive now. Lose and we're miles out of sight. Yeah, miles. I mean, those teams above us are going to keep on winning.
S-Clarke Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Yeah, miles. I mean, those teams above us are going to keep on winning. Luckily we have a chance to take points off them this month.
sfc4prem Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Luckily we have a chance to take points off them this month. Exactly. Quite why people are getting so worked up I have no idea. I mean, if we lose the proverbial "six-pointers" in the coming months then I could understand, but it seems a tad premature as it stands.
S-Clarke Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Exactly. Quite why people are getting so worked up I have no idea. I mean, if we lose the proverbial "six-pointers" in the coming months then I could understand, but it seems a tad premature as it stands. I think it's the first time we've seen a gap like this, and it does look a bit daunting for the first time this year. Previously a win would have taken us up to 15th or so, now we'd need to win 2 to get to 17th. But still plenty of points to be won, but we're where we deserve to be as it stands if we're honest.
ericofarabia Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 A 5-0 win to WBA would put them in 4th place :spaz:
Window Cleaner Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 A 5-0 win to WBA would put them in 4th place :spaz: and would leave us at least 5 points adrift of 17 place with a GD of minus 17.As Reading play QPR tomorrow we'll probably be rock bottom if we don't win as well.
Thedelldays Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Can't see anything other than a defeat by at least 2 goals If so, Adkins really has to go
sfc4prem Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Can't see anything other than a defeat by at least 2 goals If so, Adkins really has to go What would that achieve?
slickmick Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Really feel a 3 v 1 win for this one. Good month to get points on the board.
Thedelldays Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 What would that achieve? New approach, new ideas Holy god If changing manager does not achieve nothing. Why have we sacked wotte. Wigley. Gray... Even branfoot Why are thy not still saints manager?
NickG Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 New approach, new ideas Holy god If changing manager does not achieve nothing. Why have we sacked wotte. Wigley. Gray... Even branfoot Why are thy not still saints manager? that argument is both flawed and boring now. Wotte got us relegated, never showed he had it in him to be successful for us. Adkins has given our best win ration and fastest league climb in a lifetime. He has given us two successive promotions ffs. We are struggling, their are problems with defence, gaps left hand side etc. He has shown that he isn't a million miles off in that his team have performed very well for a decent amount of the time in hard games this season. The short bursts of goals against / lack of concentration have cost us. I find in a real shame and disappointing that people on here are showing such a lack of respect and appreciation of him and want to cast him aside as soon as the going gets tough. Of course this is a results game...if we don't win over next few months something has to give but I am yet to hear a sensible suggestion of how / who would improve things. More ashamed of our 'fans' on here than our goal difference. Real lack of character. Luckily it seems to be just here, rather than in real world and at the ground. Even in first half of Spurs game the more mature fans at the ground were singing their support of Adkins. This immature we lost so need a new manager is embarassing. Rant over...
Armchair Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 What would that achieve? If we are going to make the change then better sooner rather than later. If results continue as they are and we wait until Dec/Jan then we will not be able to attract a decent manager capable of making a difference.

Yep, he is up there with Dave Bassett, Neil Warnock, phil brown, Paul jewell I want saints to stay in the prem. at the moment we are going down with bad record stats against us. If we lose the next 8 games... What then? Give Adkins more time? Even Adkins himself knows he does not have long left if things stay as they are We have rightly sacked worse managers with better records in the prem that what we have now Also, what is messages on here got anything to do with support

Just your ******* view mate, I am a 44 year old season ticket holder, go to quite a few away games, married with 2 kids, but I must be immature cause I want NA out! Its not just people on here. Roger Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 If we lose Monday I think he will go. Nobody wants him to go but that's football. He had made some stupid errors this season pray we win on Monday tho but dell days is allowed an opinion.

Roger Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 Why @ your first two points? I thi k boruc maybe fine he's just settling in and has been a good goalie in the past.
Turkish Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 I thi k boruc maybe fine he's just settling in and has been a good goalie in the past. It seems a lot are writing him off after two games. Which is typical of here.
BILLY Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 I thi k boruc maybe fine he's just settling in and has been a good goalie in the past. Agree. As long as Boruc or Gazza is in goal we'll be OK. Defo not Kelvin.
S-Clarke Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 It seems a lot are writing him off after two games. Which is typical of here. Seems a bit odd. He's done little wrong in those games either. I like Gazzaniga, but I feel fans want him back because he was present in our 4-1 win. He was pretty dodgy at Everton.

Just playing Devil advocate.....but I just wondered if loyalty is so important to you, how do you feel about Adkins shipping out Club Captain (and very much part of our promotions too) Dean Hammond, Billy Sharpe and others on loan (or sold) without giving them a chance in the premiership? (having said that I do believe Adkins deserves a little more time)

Matthew Le God Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 I'd like to see this on Monday... Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshida Reeves Schneiderlin Davis Mayuka Ramirez Lallana Lambert Gazzaniga Hooiveld Fox Ward-Prowse Cork Tananari Lee Rodriguez
Olallana Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 I dont think as a manager you could play both Cork and Ramirex from the start. They have been away far to long to be sure they give you the full 90 minutes any of them and if you play them both from the start you very much limit your options during the game. There´s a big risk both needs to be subed and than you only have one more sub you can do. Imagine an injury in the first half and your options are gone. So for me, Ramirez from start if he´s fit, Cork coming on after 55-60 minutes...
aintforever Posted 3 November, 2012 Posted 3 November, 2012 I'd like to see this on Monday... Boruc Clyne Fonte Yoshida Reeves Schneiderlin Davis Mayuka Ramirez Lallana Lambert Gazzaniga Hooiveld Fox Ward-Prowse Cork Tananari Lee Rodriguez If you hold your hand over the back 5 that looks a decent side. We've got some great attacking talent there but WBA will just look at that and think they can get 3 or 4 at least.

SuperMikey Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 I expect Ramirez will be involved from the start on Monday, Corky might be on the bench. -------------------BORUC---------------- CLYNE----FONTE----MAYA------FOX ---------MORGAN----DAVIS----------- MAYUKA-------GASTON---LALLANA ------------------LAMBERT-------------- Subs: Davis, Reeves, Hooiveld, Cork, JWP, Guly, Rodriguez I was torn between putting Jay Rod or Rickie up front. Think Jay has played well for us so far and he was excellent in the forward 3 we played second half vs Spurs. However Rickie and Gaston are both excellent link-up players and can bring the likes of Mayuka into play. Rickie keeps the ball better than Jay too, and that will be vital on Monday - retaining possession.
del boy Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 If we are going to make the change then better sooner rather than later. You mean with all the defensive options the new manager would have? better to let NA have the money to get the defenders he wants in Jan and then judge him by where we are at the end of the season, maybe next season
dubai_phil Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 How nice it is to have a Sunday morning not feeling down because we lost at Football on Saturday
wild-saint Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 kIf you hold your hand over the back 5 that looks a decent side. We've got some great attacking talent there but WBA will just look at that and think they can get 3 or 4 at least. and that my friend is the point being missed by the adkins out at all costs brigade. a couple of canny signings in defence early january and we will have a really decent side. the second half of the season is our chance to stay in the prem with adkins. i think we will be discussing adkins loyalty about whether he should take that bigger job. oh the irony.

This is also flawed.... The problem is 'the going has got tough' at the wrong time in the wrong league and it seems nobody at the the club has prepared for life in the prem even though we were certainties to get promoted last season. Regardless of who we've played Adkins has shown that he is incapable of learning from his mistakes even though he spouts about doing so after every game....I admit he has done brilliantly in getting us here (pardew also has to take some credit) but does that qualify him to be a good premiership manager? When you move up a league clubs tend to buy players that will have a bit more experience in that league and also offload players that probably won't cut the mustard,we failed to do this and now we are paying the price, basically we are a championship club playing against established premiership teams and although we will nick a point off of them now and again it will not be enough to ensure our survival, how anybody at the club thought that this would be sufficient is beyond me. As a fan,of course you want your club to be doing well but crossing your fingers, being sentimental about a managers past achievements and praying is not really a strategy I would employ to decide if a manager is good enough to keep his job, experience is everything in this league and its something we have zero of in Adkins and his squad,we are rubbish and it ain't going to get a lot better no matter how much you pray. I would love it if he was doing well because that would mean saints were doing well but the reality is he isn't doing well and although there have been a couple of flashes of excitement the majority has been very very poor. In our last stint in the top flight although I was realistic enough to know we would always be strugglers you always felt that you had a chance in every game we played but this time around I don't get that feeling,I don't have the confidence in the team, manager, the formation or the tactics. To me somebody has failed badly in pre season, something has gone badly wrong since the last day of last season and if we don't start looking convincing by the time the transfer window opens then who will want to sign for a club that look certainties to get relegated?,which decent players would sign for a manager who looks way out of his depth? We need an attractive figure head, somebody who can instill confidence in the players we have and the players yet to sign and as sad as it is that man is not Adkins,he can spout as much dodgy poetry as he wants but that isn't going to get the job done I'm afraid,we need a fresh start,I'm just glad that its not my decision to make. dubai_phil Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 Thats the one. Can't understand why people think JR should start before Lambert. That depends on how people viewed JR's performance in the 2nd half v Spuds compared to the other matches this season. He STARTED to look like a PL player. rickie, in the same game, for WHATEVER reason looked VERY slow and cumbersome. I would still start with SRL at WBA though, but Rickie NEEDS a performance and goal (s) pdq.

yamms_schmitz Posted 4 November, 2012 Posted 4 November, 2012 My prediction is, saints lose tomorrow and Atkins doesn't get the sack. We then beat Swansea and also pick up another win and a couple of draws in November. Pressure is off atkins. We then stay up, but only just. Nigel becomes a hero once again.
