Thedelldays Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20097300 if he was any other club manager...we would utterly think he is a fuking idiot.... funny though lol
FarehamRed Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Excellent, up with any of wee Gordon's best!
Wade Garrett Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 'Be true to yourself, I'm happy'. Perhaps this comment of his puts to rest the ludicrous idea that he doesn't pick the side or choose tactics.
Badger Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 if he was any other club manager...we would utterly think he is a fuking idiot.... funny though lol I ssem to remember Scvnthorpe fans commenting on his zany post match interviews, and referring to him as Madkins. This is as close as we've seen him living up to that billing.
Cheese on Toast Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 (edited) I've never cringed so much in my life Edited 26 October, 2012 by Cheese on Toast made no sense -_-
Saint Fan CaM Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Excellent, up with any of wee Gordon's best! That was my first thought too! LOL - Gotta say, Nigel is a class act.
kpturner Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I've never cringed so much in my lifeReally? I liked it
Saint Charlie Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Quality stuff! How could anyone want to get rid of this guy?
niceandfriendly Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I've never cringed so much in my life Then you're a ****ing oddball, with all due respect.
hypochondriac Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Tbf its not bad at least it's slightly interesting and different to usual boring stuff he come out with
Fozzybear Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 What does the 'man in the glass' have to say about dropping RL, eh? Probably thinks you're a f*ckin loon.
Cheese on Toast Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Then you're a ****ing oddball, with all due respect. I love nige as much as the next guy... but my face did actually go bright red watching that
Bearsy Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I thought it was kind of cool that he can just go round reciting poetry off the top of his head! The only one i can do is: Fatty and thinny was in the bath. Fatty blew off and thinny Laughed. It's one of my favourites, it's from Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Blake. In this poem the character "Fatty" represents child-like innocence, he is adam of eden untroubled by shame until "Thinny" representing experience and the serpent of eden callously exposes him to ridicule.
Dig Dig Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Inspirational stuff from Nige there, I'll be looking at the man in the glass all night long now
Dig Dig Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I love nige as much as the next guy... but my face did actually go bright red watching that You should work on improving your self esteem then. Start by focusing on the man in the glass
Faz Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Brilliant. Southampton will play 4 - 3- ****ing 3.
Saint-Armstrong Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I thought it was quite good, and nice to see. Maybe some people don't appreciate good poetry on SaintsWeb, who'd have thought?

Saint-Armstrong Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 What rhymes with spazboard? Fan-on-the-board? Oh I'm not too good at this. Poured? Floored? Adored? Bored...

kpturner Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 What rhymes with spazboard?Do you really think that is an appropriate term to use these days?
Cheese on Toast Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Do you really think that is an appropriate term to use these days? Shut up
Bearsy Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Do you really think that is an appropriate term to use these days? It's official Saintsweb teminology bro, approved by the mods. Check your smileys!
BadgerBadger Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 amazeballs - he really is a bit of a learned character is our NA
Travelling Saint Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Whats next seagulls and trawlers lol!
Thedelldays Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 For your amusement I fuking love that man..
saintbletch Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I've never cringed so much in my life Not even when your carer posted on your behalf Cheese on Toast? I cringed that day. I actually, nearly literally went bright red reading some of your carer's posts. I thought Nige was excellent - although he could work on being more faithful to the poem's metre. He made it sound more like a limerick.
Frank's cousin Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Brilliant. Southampton will play 4 - 3- ****ing 3. I saw that comming as well! Briliant stuff from our Nige
scotty Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Impressive stuff. Maybe Nigel could add to his poetic repertoire, perhaps with an interpretation of Hiawatha? "Down the left comes A. Lallana, swerving jinking swiftly crossing, Hooieveldt rising, elbows flying, Puncheon offside, chance goes begging, lost possession, midfield struggle, down the middle, Kelvin flounders, shouts to Yoshi clear it clear it, lost translation, three points dropping," etc
Bailey Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Got a lot of time for our Nige - his positivity is infectious and I hope he remains at the helm for a long time to come. Lets get behind the lads on Sunday and see if we can spring a surprise or two. Come on Saints!
Elmore Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 That was pretty good. He is probably sick to death of answering the same questions and thought "that'll shut them up!"
mitch01 Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I want the man to be in charge of our club for quite some time to come. I also like what he said about 'riding out the storm'; we have had a good few seasons without too many lows, now things aren't going are way we need to be stoical and resilient. Hoping our Nige is here for the long-term, whether we go down or not this season.
VectisSaint Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 What rhymes with spazboard? cheese on toast board? Pity that a few people have a problem when someone dares to show a bit of intelligence. Not sure I much like the poem itself, but its refreshing to see something other than the usual brain dead responses from football managers and footballers. At least I could understand it, unlike listening to Fergie slurring his words or Redkrapp talking ****** in a cheeky chappy cockney way.
Kingsland Red Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Top Man: educated; dignified; worldly with a sense of reason; and like WGS, far too intelligent for the dregs of the media who conduct interviews with the same old dull dull dull roll out questions designed for ignorant uneducated self important guys like, erm, Saggy Chops.
Suhari Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 (edited) I am feeling man love. Educated; articulate. Positive. I SO want Saints to do well under Adkins. He will be SUCH a good manager one day. Maybe even, as some have suggested, England manager. This is up there with his Football Focus interview when he said he was going to go home and make love to his wife. Edited 26 October, 2012 by Suhari Can't spell educated. ****.

I just dont get why everyone assumes this... if Poyet came out with this..or holloway for a bigger example..many would call them an attention seeking cvnt... there is zero guarantee that adkins will become a decent prem manager.. at the mo, he has achieved as much as Jewell, warnock, phil brown, ian holloway etc...you know, the really rubbish managers

Sometimes in life, just liking someone for who they are and what they bring to the club should be enough. There is more to life , a club and its culture than the constant panic about prem survival that most clubs and tehir miserable managers portray in public.

Clifford Nelson Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 There is nothing bonkers in that. I've said through most of my life that I need to look at myself in the mirror every morning, and if I start flinching I'm no longer true to myself and I'm losing. I'm bloody rubbish at poetry, though, and feel inspired that we have a manager to can do that.
It's There Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 The poem he quoted I haven't heard before... and it's so important! Being true to yourself is something that shouldn't be undervalued. I too hope he's here at saints for the long hall- 3points on Sunday will go a long way to easing the stress all round!
