if he was any other club manager...we would utterly think he is a fuking idiot....

funny though lol

I ssem to remember Scvnthorpe fans commenting on his zany post match interviews, and referring to him as Madkins. This is as close as we've seen him living up to that billing.

I thought it was kind of cool that he can just go round reciting poetry off the top of his head!

The only one i can do is:

Fatty and thinny was in the bath.

Fatty blew off and thinny

Laughed.

It's one of my favourites, it's from Songs of Innocence and Experience by William Blake. In this poem the character "Fatty" represents child-like innocence, he is adam of eden untroubled by shame until "Thinny" representing experience and the serpent of eden callously exposes him to ridicule.

I love nige as much as the next guy... but my face did actually go bright red watching that

You should work on improving your self esteem then. Start by focusing on the man in the glass

Do you really think that is an appropriate term to use these days?

It's official Saintsweb teminology bro, approved by the mods. Check your smileys! :spaz:

I've never cringed so much in my life

Not even when your carer posted on your behalf Cheese on Toast?

I cringed that day. I actually, nearly literally went bright red reading some of your carer's posts.

I thought Nige was excellent - although he could work on being more faithful to the poem's metre. He made it sound more like a limerick.

Impressive stuff. Maybe Nigel could add to his poetic repertoire, perhaps with an interpretation of Hiawatha? "Down the left comes A. Lallana, swerving jinking swiftly crossing, Hooieveldt rising, elbows flying, Puncheon offside, chance goes begging, lost possession, midfield struggle, down the middle, Kelvin flounders, shouts to Yoshi clear it clear it, lost translation, three points dropping," etc

Got a lot of time for our Nige - his positivity is infectious and I hope he remains at the helm for a long time to come.

Lets get behind the lads on Sunday and see if we can spring a surprise or two.

Come on Saints!

I want the man to be in charge of our club for quite some time to come.

I also like what he said about 'riding out the storm'; we have had a good few seasons without too many lows, now things aren't going are way we need to be stoical and resilient. Hoping our Nige is here for the long-term, whether we go down or not this season.

What rhymes with spazboard?

cheese on toast board?

Pity that a few people have a problem when someone dares to show a bit of intelligence. Not sure I much like the poem itself, but its refreshing to see something other than the usual brain dead responses from football managers and footballers. At least I could understand it, unlike listening to Fergie slurring his words or Redkrapp talking ****** in a cheeky chappy cockney way.

Top Man: educated; dignified; worldly with a sense of reason; and like WGS, far too intelligent for the dregs of the media who conduct interviews with the same old dull dull dull roll out questions designed for ignorant uneducated self important guys like, erm, Saggy Chops.

I am feeling man love.

Educated; articulate. Positive.

I SO want Saints to do well under Adkins. He will be SUCH a good manager one day. Maybe even, as some have suggested, England manager.

This is up there with his Football Focus interview when he said he was going to go home and make love to his wife.

I just dont get why everyone assumes this...

if Poyet came out with this..or holloway for a bigger example..many would call them an attention seeking cvnt...

there is zero guarantee that adkins will become a decent prem manager..

at the mo, he has achieved as much as Jewell, warnock, phil brown, ian holloway etc...you know, the really rubbish managers

That may be true, but its refreshing to see someone, honest enough to be himself - and it was refreshing to see him positive and upbeat ahead of the game. Sometimes in life, just liking someone for who they are and what they bring to the club should be enough. There is more to life , a club and its culture than the constant panic about prem survival that most clubs and tehir miserable managers portray in public.

Exactly this, and like looking after a little brother, we need to look after this man, he is one of us.

There is nothing bonkers in that. I've said through most of my life that I need to look at myself in the mirror every morning, and if I start flinching I'm no longer true to myself and I'm losing. I'm bloody rubbish at poetry, though, and feel inspired that we have a manager to can do that.

The poem he quoted I haven't heard before... and it's so important! Being true to yourself is something that shouldn't be undervalued.

I too hope he's here at saints for the long hall- 3points on Sunday will go a long way to easing the stress all round!
