Wurzel Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 Bearing in mind outside the top 6 everyone is capable of beating anyone, we can only improve, and we have money to strengthen - allegedly - in January, the 33/1 for a top ten finish shown on the same site looks a far better value bet

notnowcato Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 but he hasnt...has he. sturrock and ince did....they failed miserably Don't most managers "fail" anyway? Who'd have thought a manager who failed at WBA would then win the Champions League Basically what I'm saying is that these type of comparisons are bollix. It's all about the individual and because of that I think Nigel is still the man for us.
Nexstar Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 I would guess swindon town would suggest his man management skills are not appalling They are pretty shocking though. From their defeat on Tuesday he said: "Once again, we have to thank some of our players for the mistakes they made. This time it's Alan McCormack, my captain." "He lost three balls in a row, without being under any pressure." "He's a player that should know what I want and it's things like that that will see us drop and drop." Perhaps it's something that should be kept more 'in-house'.

ant Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 Di Canio has an ugly attitude and I find it difficult to look past his fascista status. Also tend to agree about his man-management 'skills' - his comments to the press about Swindon's players have been at best bizarre and at worst downright unprofessional (not to mention the numerous spats he's had with them during and after matchdays). I'd rather not think that his methods are the route to success, though I guess we'll see where Swindon end up come May.

MOSaint Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 If Adkins goes I would expect the replacement to have some experience managing in the PL or equivalent foreign league (La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga). Swapping one manager that needs time to learn the ropes at this level for another one would be a waste of time.

sotonjoe Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 Not sure this is completely correct, but there would appear to be some mileage in it. If I'm correct - and I'm never wrong - it would appear that Di Canio is set to be named as Assistant Manager, whilst Redknapp comes in as manager. At least this is what Cortese told the taxi driver I was drinking Starbucks with this morning.

Giordano Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 (edited) I don't see it myself though I admit to a penchant for Di Canio. He is an un reconstructed fascist and tends to say what he thinks. Instead of " it was the refs fault " or we have got injuries" he says it like it is. He was a classy player and is pure box office for Swindon and SKY whenever he opens his mouth. Would love to see him telling some of our players to stop switching off and start playing like they are being paid a shedload of money as top professionals not to fall asleep from corners and so forth..."ow, Jos, you must-a not-a score-a da goal in a our net, anda stoppa give away da penalty or I drop-a you to kids team, you capisce? ;-) " "eh, a danny, why you not mark-a da man?", "boruc, no be afraid like-a pansy boy, when da ball he come in da box you must-a be in charge and take-a control of it or a kick you in da ****** send you train with-a kids"....." A jose why you kick-a da ball far away to there-a player, why you no look-a to see where-a you-a kick it? Passa da ball to our player or i sub you anda make-a you train with the bambini team! Oh i could have endless fun with this. PS im allowed because im italian to take the P out of the accent so its not racist! I will-a play myself to-a show you. And if-a anyone gets past a me i just chop them up. Dats it. My-a players must-a show they are-a willing to die for da shirt or i will not-a pick them.
