Stoke after SRL, in the Sun.

He was extremely close to going in August

You also said NA had 2 games left just before the Arsenal game.

Cortese must have been mighty impressed with our performance against Villa if it made up for our sh*t performances against Arse, Everton, Wham and Fulham. Either that or you are just bullsh*tting.

i'm not a bullsh*tter I'm just sharing what I hear and I heard from someone definitely ITK. Believe it or not I care neither way

I cant say what NC is thinking but sometimes plans dont come off as quickly as you want them too so you have to stick with your hand until the deal can be completed and you can execute your master plan.

Can anyone other than NC 2nd guess him?

The most laughable aspect of this story is the idea of Kenwyne Jones coming back to Saints. I sometimes wonder if these lazy hacks actually have any idea, and even realise that KJ used to play for us and went on strike for a transfer. The idea of Lambert at Stoke is just plain daft, why would someone with the skill and touch of Lambert go and play for a team that just relies on height and muscle. Fecking joke.

whilst I agree that the possibility of KJ returning sounds most unlikely......the idea of the Lambert-type of player going to Stoke.. isn't.

Pulis surely recalls the McMenemy days.. and how Lawrie recruited a squad of over 30's internationals to baby-sit his up-and-coming starlets.

Even if Beattie and Higgie have moved on a while back, the likes of Delap and Crouch show how he blends in the experienced heads alongside some of his younger talents.

I hope that neither scenario is going to happen, but it doesn't sound so implausible as some of the rubbish stories the media likes to put out on a slow day.

Why would Pulis be thinking about what McMenemy did over 30 years ago?

OK maybe ....he didn't .

Maybe... a sudden stroke a genius came to him .....and the very idea of playing experienced internationals alongside his younger hopefuls....might help them improve.

The fact that he managed to find 4 or 5 (such) former Saints players at the same time was probably a total coincidence !

Beattie, Delap, Higginbotham, Lambert. Not exactly experienced internationals.

The discussion topic was (maybe) Pulis luring RL to Stoke NOW, not 6-7 years ago. .....(and whilst Rickie's not an international (shame).... Stoke already have experienced players like ;

Robert Huth 19 caps for Germany, Edu 40+ caps for USA, and Wilson Palacious 77 caps for Honduras, Matthew Upson 21 caps for England, Charlie Adam 20 caps for Scotland..and those other two fellas ..now what were their names ? .... oh yes.... Peter Crouch and Michael Owen....you've heard of them, I expect?

If I was Pulis and making a " dream buy".....I don't think Rickie would be out of place in there..would he ? .. and it would certainly be a big lift for the Stoke youngsters to play alongside a bunch like that.

I don't believe for one moment that such a deal would ever come off, but it was conjecture in the OP.... about Pulis ' (supposed) interest..to get Rickie, in a part-ex deal with KJ.

Every player has his price and if Stoke come up with the readies then he'll go, just like every other player I've enjoyed watching over the years.

I'd like to think he'd play out his time here but football is a business and money talks.

But it don't sing & dance, and it don't walk. And neither does Rickie.

Not seen or heard anything to suggest Lambert won't finish his career at Saints.

I would suggest you maybe wrong I doubt he has earned much over his career so I would have thought that he would move to another club eventually for a fat signing on fee

But like you I dont know what Lambert wants and I doubt he would publise it

Rickie's contract runs until he's 33 if I recall, I imagine he's on a fair bit of dosh as well, (circa 20-30k,) I doubt he's going to retire in poverty.
