Norm Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Stoke manager Tony Pulis is plotting to sign to Southampton striker Rickie Lambert, 30, in the January transfer window in a deal that would see Kenwyne Jones moving to the south coast club. WHITEE1987 Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Wont happen. I don't think even Adkins with his current decision making skills would contemplate talks let alone Cortese. Just normal transfer babbling bulls**t!

Just normal transfer babbling bulls**t! I read somewhere on one of these main board threads that it is Les Reed who decides who comes in or goes out. hypochondriac Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 I don't like these stories of Lambert being sold, especially with the weird decisions like dropping him for Jay rod and leaving him out of the team.

Sour Mash Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Can see how/why this story would come about though, would suit Stoke, RL can't be massively pleased with constantly being dropped/taken off.
shurlock Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 (edited) I thought there would be no chance of dropping him (more than once) for a non scoring striker...but it happens Its not that he's not scoring - its just that Pullis has a thing for Crouch/Walters and not playing him to the frustration of quite a few of stoke fans. FWIW, reckon Jones could do a decent job provided he stays focused. A on-his-day type player but can't sneeze at the combination of pace and power. OldNick Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 NC has a lot to answer for regarding RL. The only layer to look any good in this league for us. If he gets a game his confidence will be knocked and no doubt it will take time for his form to lift. Pardew said you have to play him all the time, he was right. broncoboy Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 So let me get this right. NC and NA are desperate to stay in the premiership so we would sell our top goalscorer why exactly NC is hard nosed if he thinks RL should stay he wont be going anywhere. NC would see RL fester on the bench before that happened/

I am sure someone said a while ago that LR has the ear of NC so it won't matter a jot what Nigel thinks. I've been told that as well. Don't forget, he blatantly "dismissed" Adkins with his "only a Coach" statement. I've never liked Reed, but, unfortunately for us, Cortese does. I expect it's because of all the wonderful work he did at Charlton that swung it History will show that he is the rotten apple in the barrel, but by then, we will have been relegated, and I expect Cortese will be gone, after getting in new owners

Wiggles31 Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Lets be honest NC is going to put any bids below £8 million straight in the bin and Stoke are not going to bid more than £3-4 million for a striker who is 30. And Kenwyne Jones is complete dog sh!te. We won't be looking to sell our best player. Lambert as far as I know loves it in Southampton. Hence this would not happen in a million years. pingwing Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Ha! The article lacks so much substance that you can see right though it. The sun have picked a team that haven't scored many goals and but have an ex-saints striker that "of course everyone wants back now they are in the big time" completely ignoring facts around why he left and Jones monstrous lack of talent. Slow round of applause for the sun for making things up and pretending its news.

ART Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 We have a home game coming up. Time to leave Cortese, Reed in not doubt about our feelings for Ricky. NA PICKS THE TEAM.He is the man responsible for taking RL off when we were leading in both games. NOT NC ETC. Like Liverpool when they got rid of Carrol, we will have to do the same if the club feel we can get mo0ney back in for him. It is a disaster, and I feel that it will be hard for RL ever to get his form back now he would rightly believ3e the management dont think he is good enough
OldNick Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 Kenwynne left as he wanted to play in the top league. no different to Bale , Ox and Theo. Ok he went about it badly but if someone offered you 400% wage rise most would do their best to go. He still has a future and if he came it would be good for both parties as he has something to prove.

VectisSaint Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 The most laughable aspect of this story is the idea of Kenwyne Jones coming back to Saints. I sometimes wonder if these lazy hacks actually have any idea, and even realise that KJ used to play for us and went on strike for a transfer. The idea of Lambert at Stoke is just plain daft, why would someone with the skill and touch of Lambert go and play for a team that just relies on height and muscle. Fecking joke. Lighthouse Posted 25 October, 2012 Share Posted 25 October, 2012 I think all the people worried by this need to take another look at this bit: Stoke after SRL, in the Sun. Ooh look, Lambert was dropped for Southampton's last game, let's make up a nice easy, predictable rumour... Stoke they like a big lad up front, that should fill a few collum inches. saint_sinner Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 lambert wont be here in January - Fact He wasnt even in the squad that travelled to west ham on saturday. After being told he'd been dropped, he was in north baddesley at in the morning planning on going out for the day with his missus and the kids when the call came through and they sent a car for him I believe. Hate to see it because it's been brilliant watching him over the last 3 years but if we get a good fee in january for someone who is 31 next year it makes good business sense rather than wait til he's 33 and then he has no sell on value which is NC's on going policy. Hope we invest the money in some defenders!!

Without trying to be too dismissive....... Actually, no, sod the pretense... That sounds like utter drivel to me. This Charming Man Posted 26 October, 2012 Share Posted 26 October, 2012 He's already established himself as a legend at this club. I reckon I'd go on some kind of William Foster rampage if it did happen. Thankfully I don't think NC, LR or NA are stupid enough to do that... stupid enough not to strengthen our defence sufficiently but not stupid enough to do this.
