Is Adkins job untenable?

Jeez.........poor old NA can't win can he? With some of the posters on here, they get all excited because we fail to beat Man U, Man City, etc and we're told NA is out of his depth by the armchair experts. Now, conversely, we have a "kind fixture list" (conveniently forgetting the terrible fixture list at the start of the season) and some moan we have not done well enough in those games.

We are now back in touching distance of several teams above us and improving. We should be OK if we can keep up the same performance levels and strengthen in January.

This was always going to be a very tough year but the manager and team are learning and adapting all the time

Its funny how the some of the posters who love mocking those who suggested Europe this season or those who suggested that the prem is overrated are the ones who have thrown their toys out the pram the most this season.

We are in a relegation battle and will be for the season IMO. It means losing and drawing games quite frequently.

really..no way!!!!

just throwing it out there that we will go down if things dont improve quite a bit.....we are on the right track...very much so...but the next two games are absolutely massive...

IMO, if we are not out of the bottom 3 come end of the sunderland game..we have left ourselves with a great deal to do than we should have..given how the games have gone

again...just my opinion

After 8 points from the last 5 and two good home games coming up is Adkins job still untenable?

Shall we wait until we have played those two games before we describe them as "good".

If we lose them both I think his job becomes more untenable than ever and he will be in a world of pain.

We are yet to beat a team when the other side has played well. Villa, QPR & Newcastle were all in poor form and awful on the day we played them. We are yet to win a game where like against Norwich and Fulham, the other team have actually put up a bit of a fight and actually played okay.

Admittedly it was early days but Villa were in decent form when we played them.

if one win in four is decent form (at home to Swansea) then I suppose they were. And please dont tell me you think they played well when we played them. They were terrible.

No they were sh*te but the talk at the time was that they were looking good and had turned a corner.

If we lose both, I'll eat my cat.

I don't think we will lose both either, but we need bare minimum four points. But you can't use future games as evidence that a managers job is no longer untenable. Having winnable games ahead doesn't ease pressure, it ramps it up.

Coz the first clip mlg put up was outright sick. He then changed it with the russell howard clip to make it all 'ironic' and 'weird'. Frankly anyone who posts russell howard clips up also wants a word with themselves.

Ah I see. Well he has made TDD look like a bit of a bellend, especially as he didn't admit to it.

The first clip was from a Dutch news channel (it was widely reported globally) rather than a British comedy programme, both about the same subject. Neither of which warrant what Thedelldays said.

Maybe he was wanting you banned from keeping animals rather than being banned from the forum?

Well if we arent in a relegation battle it'll be one of our best seasons in the Prem

Didn't we regularly finish in the top half in the 80's with 2nd and 5th finishes in 1984 and 1985, or has this been erased and football only started in 1992?

  • 3 months later...
Remember this thread that was sneered at and described as stupid. Well blow me down it turned out only a few weeks later Cortese was actively looking for replacements for him.

Not sure that's strictly true. Did you see premiership world or whatever that programme is called with the interview with Bellague?

He said Cortese was watching Coutinho back in Jan last year but then was more impressed by Pochettino at the time.

Not sure it wnet further than that though, but clearly MP was going to be Cortese's first choice if the club needed a new manager.

Not quite, I'm sure i will be told i am wrong but someone else was offered the job first and declined it, right after the Sunderland game in fact. It's also a FACT MP had the job weeks before he was officially appointed. MP admitted as much himself when he said he had been watching the team for a while.

Of course his job is tenable. He's lead the club from L1 to the Prem in two seasons and it would seem that he still has the players on board. OK, so we're not winning games and that's pretty rubbish for us all, however thankfully there are adults made of sterner stuff on the board at SFC nowadays and ditching a good young English manager is a decision that will not be made lightly....no matter how many threads are started or resurrected on here!

Sterner stuff, eh?

Ain't untenable meaning it's all over bar the shouting?

I ain't thinking that at all, I'm thinking he's under threat but could still turn it round with a few wins.

turns out i was almost exactly wrong! I'm glad i saved my sneering at turkish for other threads tho.

What a load of attention seeking ********!

our best manager is years, at least since Hoddle, role is untenable - why?

Because a few rumours after a relatively bad start! On this reckoning managers would find themselves sacked every few weeks.

Broken man....disappointed manager after defeat...due again to a few minutes of madness from players.

confirmation not fully in control.....you have just made that up!! as is shown in this thread.

growing rumours...one tweet from someone with no known links to football - denied by journo in football!

reality...there is none in your post!

Arry...Spurs finished 11th with 46 points in 07/08, Arry came in and added Defoe, Palacios, Cudicini, Chimbonda, Robbie Keane, and got them to finish 8th with 51 points - costing them just over £50m for that improvement of 5 points!!

It seems there was some truth in them NickG. Care to comment on the attention seeking ******** which turned out to be bang on?

Who was offered the job? Di Matteo?
