Thedelldays Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Not saying it's ever even possibly likely but :- How many ITKers (of the time) laughed when they heard KK was going to sign for Saints?? whats that got to do with anything
Big Bad Bob Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 whats that got to do with anything Just saying, you're laughing at something that is, in all likelihood, beyond the realms of possible. But it *HAS* happened before. Be a little more open minded, just a tad, go on........

VectisSaint Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I don't understand those questioning if a manager could work with NC. It seems we might miss out on a lot of managers I'd this is the issue some are making it out to be. Well its not worth discussing managers that could not work with NC. For a start they will not get appointed, and secondly why would we want a manager, any manager, that cannot work with the Chairman? Sometimes I wonder if some people actually think about what they post, but I guess when you post so much there cannot be much of a thought process. Thought you were not going to be around for a day or two, disappointing development if thats not true.

But many are adamant that managers, as Nige is are left to get on with it and Cortese is in the background turning us into 50k stadium champions league club. Surely there would be very little interaction apart from the odd glass of red on a Saturday evening after the game.
saint_sinner Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 I personally was not advocating PDC but can see NC going for him! I might have £10 on it at 33-1! his odds have shortened massively in the last few days!!

saint_sinner Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 his odds have shortened massively in the last few days!! in fact PDC down to 4/6 from 33-1 and he's over taken Redknapp at 4-1 There seems to be something going on
Thedelldays Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager
notnowcato Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 would love to know how much Victor C has taken on this market.
krissyboy31 Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton-specials/next-permanent-manager I think if NC has just check out the caliber of manager being mentioned there, he will have changed his mind and decided to stick with NA afterall!
Miltonroader07 Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 Although I'm going to get torn to pieces in my eyes this is the way to go. This defensive atrocity can't continue. I agree Redknapp with money to spend would potentially be good, problem is The Don wont keep out of it and I think Harry knows that, why would he want a second Daniel Levy !!
Window Cleaner Posted 26 October, 2012 Posted 26 October, 2012 in fact PDC down to 4/6 from 33-1 and he's over taken Redknapp at 4-1 There seems to be something going on And just how legal (or ethical) would it be for a bookmaker to slash the odds on a candidate so as to promote the idea that something was going on and thus encourage more foolish wagers ?
Window Cleaner Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I see 'Arry has stated that he's not interested in the Blackburn job then, seems to think he has something better in the offing.
Toomer Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I see 'Arry has stated that he's not interested in the Blackburn job then, seems to think he has something better in the offing. To far up north for Rosie and Sandra.
labibs Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 And just how legal (or ethical) would it be for a bookmaker to slash the odds on a candidate so as to promote the idea that something was going on and thus encourage more foolish wagers ? Entirely legal, they can offer any price they want and it's up to punters to decide if they want to back it or not. It wouldn't be in their interest to cut prices on something unless every other bookie did the same, otherwise they would simply lose their custom to their rivals (particularly with most gamblers have account with multiple firms these days and the rise of internet betting). As a result, firms only tend to cut prices significantly after taking a big bet on something or because of inside information. With regards to the other point, I don't think there is such a thing as an ethical bookmaker! I would be surprised if PDC was being lined up to replace NA though. Even less managerial experience at top level than Adkins has.
CB Fry Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 The usual Arry love-in on Five Live just now. He aint going to no Championship Club. If he really wants back in, I think there are five jobs he'd take if offered- QPR, Saints, WHU, Reading, Fulham with maybe Villa at a push, as sixth. Of them its between QPR, Villa and us on who sacks first. I still don't think he'd come here and I remain unconvinced he actually wants another job.
DT Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 He was on Talksport earlier saying that the Blackburn job wasn't for him, which is classic Harry getting in on the airwaves first to gloss over the possibility that they want someone else. As usual the pliant journos on the show (Spurs Hawksbee and Chelsea Jacobs) didn't quiz him too much or ask about Saints, suckers that they are, and Harry comes away with the listeners thinking he has the pick of any club who might want him once pressure gets too much and a chairman presses the eject button, potentially this weekend. QPR have turned a corner so it won't be them, and I'm not convinced he thinks we have the cash to supplement his clear lack of anything other than being a chequebook manager. God he's annoying. But the master at manipulating the media.
egreog Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 The proximity to Sandbanks is critical in his thinking, and that is worrying. I just hope NA turns the corner soon and this thread can wilt away.
chocco boxo Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I fancy Arry to go back to Pompey? After all it is his spritual home! Appy to take another job and Arry will step in as saviour!! odds please.

SaintRobbie Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I guess there would be one upside to Arry taking the job, no one would accuse Cortese of selecting the team once Arry was in charge. I think Redknapp would keep us up this time, but then I think Nige can too, it's just that his team seems in utter disarray at the moment. It would certainly divide the fans, right up until the first win!

At the end of the day - and I hate to say this - they have a better team and more chance of staying up than we do. Something for Arry to work with. Villa is too far for him IMHO. London club or south coast he'll want. Nope... QPR for me. Mark Hughes anyone?

I think Villa is borderline, it is doable from Sandbanks in a way that, say, Wigan isn't. Reading and the Billionaire Russians might surprise us yet though.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I'll stick me neck out here and say that I reckon Hughes is going to turn QPR around before very long - their home game v Reading on Sunday being key to that perhaps. Guess who that will probably leave propping up the rest of the table next week ....

Hughes has done really poorly, hes bought in some good players, but too many old players and the discipline has gone out the window. The game seems to have moved on from him as he always plays a 4411 or 442 and that means a 4231 usually overwhelms the midfield. Rumours are he had to get 7 points out of Everton, Reading and Saints so it could be that a new manager makes his home debut against Saints if he doesnt get 3 points on sunday. Benitez is 2nd fav to take over and Id rather have him.

alpine_saint Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 I'm still not at the point where I want to my club to whore itself out to that c**t, but the time is rapidly approaching.
saintchris23 Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Hughes was rubbish at Fulham and is rubbish at QPR = No thanks Redkrapp will never manage Saints again. His stats at all his teams have been poor when you consider that he loses almost as many games as he wins. Wiggles31 Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Please let's have Redknapp after this tactical feck up.
Window Cleaner Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Please let's have Redknapp after this tactical feck up. It's not a tactical foul up, it's the reserves and kids.
alpine_saint Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 It's not a tactical foul up, it's the reserves and kids. You're right. Its a strategic foul-up. The Carling cup is unimportant, but taking the opportunity to sort a few things out/improve a few things for the PL is critical.
Give it to Ron Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 It's not a tactical foul up, it's the reserves and kids. Not forgetting Redknapp did exactly the same thing when he was here to prove a point to Lowe then slaughtered them
Wiggles31 Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Well as well as playing reserves (ridiculous in my opinion) he did make a tactical **** up in playing one forward. Stupid in my opinion.
EBS1980 Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Least we might get spurs players in jan if we had redknapp. No bad thing there...
Badger Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Not forgetting Redknapp did exactly the same thing when he was here to prove a point to Lowe then slaughtered them Setting their careers back in the process.
Flyer Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Thought you had a load of world class players who were much better than saints? You have changed your tune. We have got better players, the manager is clueless. Change the manager and we will finish mid table. Saints still need at least a goalie, LB and a CB or 2 to have a chance.

Saint Garrett Posted 30 October, 2012 Posted 30 October, 2012 Ah Flyer is back giving it the biggen now we've lost a few. QPR are ****, we're awful defensively, I'd say there isn't much in it apart from our wage bill is probably a third of yours.
Secret Site Agent Posted 12 November, 2012 Posted 12 November, 2012 Dear Kate Laven - Journalist for the Telegraph: With regard to your information regarding the rumour that Redknapp will be back on the Saints throne in three weeks...or possibly before. Thank you for your clairvoyant insight and understanding of the mechanics of Southampton Football Club. I'm impressed that you have the insiders and insight that leaves you at the hub with these ground breaking, exclusives as per the managemant of the Southampton team. As we all know, hindsight is a wonderful thing. So thanks for your prediction. It is obviously wrong so thanks for that. Kind regards Mr SSA, Southampton, Hants. p.s. Or am I too soon and it'll happen in the next day? p.p.s. Or does you three weeks not start yet?
Smirking_Saint Posted 12 November, 2012 Posted 12 November, 2012 No Redknapp. Not good enough end of. Really ? If it wasnt for the relegation debarcle and if Adkins wasnt here Id bit your hand of if I was offered Redknapp. Plays good football, good motivator and has pedigree.
chocco boxo Posted 12 November, 2012 Posted 12 November, 2012 Our next manager will be someone Les Reed recommends to NC, so will not be that ***t hopefully.
