Ampersound Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 To be honest he has done well at every club he has been to except us but we were always going down that season. Perhaps he wants to correct the one blip on his CV. Perhaps with a little bit more money in the bank this time around he can keep us up. Perhaps it's just a rumour and now Nigel knows exactly how long he has left to stop these silly mistakes and get some points. But I'm with FF, I don't really care who is in charge it's the team I support. With a bit of luck we can beat spurs and get some damn confidence back
John Boy Saint Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 Stunning isn't it absolutely chuff all gets uttered in public from within the walls of SMS, we even have multi page posts featuring the guessing game of what is actually happening with the smallest of stuff on here. Some hack with nowt going on, figures Saints are in trouble manager must be under threat, Hey Redknapp is floating about: Redknapp and Saints ooh now that will be a bit spicy, hmmmmm when will it happen 3 more losses time er-um ah 3 weeks. Instantly we have the "we are all going to die" scene in Airplane being reinacted before our eyes on here!! Amazingly there are 2 clubs who are yet to win a game in the prem. Arry has also been tipped as in Mark Hughes shoes by Christmas................. Poor old Ben from Eastenders must be really upset not touted for the sack as much as Adkins and Hughes and no mention of good old Arry replacing him by last Wednesday week. Cortese might be a bit cold, but I wouldn't have him down as being totally stupid.
doddisalegend Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 Putting aside the fact I can't stand the c unt I just don't see how Harry "the cheque book" Redknapp fits into the clubs suppossed aims (of bringing on youth, living within our means, etc). I suppose as a short tem fix to keep us in the PL he might work......but this would be his last job in football and I doubt he wants to risk relegation (and lets face battling relegation is what we will be about this season) as his final act as a football manager. Stepgar Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 You gotta admit though when he was here last time the renditions of "Harry and jim" were class. The cup tie against Man Utd went on for about 30 mins and for about another 20 mins after the game.
Made in Southampton Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 Just passing on what I've heard. A friend at work has a contact at SMS (I think it's an old school friend). He has said that Harry Rednapp is being lined up to take over. What makes this more credible is that this guy was spot on about Dave Jones becoming SW manager. He had this knowledge well in advance of it happening.
Shroppie Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 Personally I would rather scrub my nuts with a cheese grater than have him back. He would clearly be showing a complete disregard for the fans views on if he appoints Redknapp. Football and success come first though nowadays. Rightly or wrongly. Look at Blackburn felt really bad for Kean but the club stood by him. He had to quit in the end. IF HR did come back I would support him. Wouldn't like it but I would because I love my club and I only want success for the club (without bankrupting etc). So whoever does come in they will get my support. Stepgar Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 The other thing - again IF Harry were to be manager he would so definatley NOT be a puppet of any kind. He would not be a yes man and would want to do everything his way.

John B Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 I just cannot believe people would even think NC would do this!!! Firstly...how many rumours about him have turned out to be true? Secondly. He is a man of principles and i know for a fact that one of those is that the rotten core of our club (and everyone associated with it) just over 3 years ago would never return. Its a time when the club needs to stick together and he knows that. I doubt if it is true either but like Nigel is out of his depth at the moment hardly his fault so is Cortese as he was only a banker investing money not a business man running a company. As he is only involved at SFC for the money I can see him doing anything to keep the club in the PL

humber Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 How any Saints fan could say they wouldn't mind him back because he's a decent manager is beyond me. iansums Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 This sort of thread always makes me smile. So HR is mentioned as the next Saints manager and some of you threaten to 'never set foot in SMS again' or 'will stop supporting Saints'. I simply don't understand this attitude. There have been times in the past ten years when I've wished I supported another club. Walking back from SMS after the last minute defeat to Bristol Rovers in L1 I thought things would never improve and didn't want to even think about Saints. 24 hours later I was looking forward to the next game. I couldn't just switch off that support if I didn't like the Manager or Chairman, it's not that simple. I'd support Saints if Mickey Mouse was the manager FFS (is he available?). Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 For those who don't think Harry couldn't work with NC, remember he survived 4 years with Daniel Levy at Spuds, a man who also has a reputation as a control freak. He'd probably still be there too if he hadn't let talk of the England job go to his head. I'm still unsure how I'd feel if he returned but what would be certain is that he'd need results quickly as he probably wouldn't have the same honeymoon period as another new man at the helm. S-Clarke Posted 24 October, 2012 Share Posted 24 October, 2012 (edited) It would kind of make a mockery of our branding ''Shoulder to shoulder, together we stand '' ''Together as one''. It would divide the fan base in one foul swoop. And it's just not the right sort of manager for what NC wants to build here. We all know what HR is like, transfers in and out and being in a fair bit of control over it. I think it's quite clear here that he wouldn't have that control, especially over the tactics. I don't see Cortese being a man to change his ideas and philosophy, and that's the only way this would happen. And doesn't this have an air of ''Hoddle'' returning all those years ago?
