Right,

Ok we've had some poor results. Yes our team is probably not good enough. Yes we should have strengthened the defence in the summer, BUT we can't affect that now.

It's time to get behind the team. How did we get results the last few seasons ? How did we stay up all the way through the 90's when it looked impossible?

Everyone got behind the team and made a racket. The togetherness in the last few seasons brought us up and the fans are needed. If we are going to stay up our home form will be critical.

Let's get St Mary's rocking on Sunday, sell out crowd, make lots of noise and make it an intimidating place for teams to come to.

Until Nigel has been dismissed, we owe him to get behind him and the philosophy and the team. It's time to come together and be the 12th man.

COYS!

Who isn't behind the team already, other than a few cyber warriors on here, some of whom don't go to matches anyway. You get a very different perspective on here than if you actually go to SMS.

The only thing missing was the "three years ago..." anecdote, which has become the TSW equivalent of Uncle Albert's "During the war..."

Why are you adding to this thread ? Its a thread aimed at getting behind the players and since you don't go to games there really isn't anything here for you. Bore off you bedwetting attention seeking salad dodger.

Very true - it's just the seasoned few that go beyond the normal dissection of results etc. Sunday will be rocking and I fully expect us all to get behind NA - although I'll be interested to see what happens if we're getting spanked and NA makes some bizarre subs or does not start SRL.

HE's right though. Anyone who remembers the relegation dog fights at the Dell will tell you what a difference the home support often made. The crowd can't win games of football, but they can help set the mood and the tone of the day.

Has it been 'rocking' once this season though? It certainly wasn't against both Fulham and Wigan. Villa yes but only once we were winning, and I don't know about Man Utd as I couldn't make it. There seems to be an attitude at games I've been to this season that we try and sing at the start, then we sing until we concede, and then it's quiet. Its what happened on Saturday and it's what happened vs Everton. We need to sing our hearts out when we're losing or in need of a goal, thats when the team needs us most. Whats done is done, but the team needs us.

This thread is all well and good but it will be the same as usual.

Three stands will sit in complete silence as per usual and the Northam will sing a few poorly sung versions of OWTS which will then be drowned out by Spurs who sing it louder and better than us.

How can one sentence be so accurate and yet so funny?

Normally threads in this vein are a bit cringeworthy and merely point out the obvious, but there really is a different attitude in the ground this season. Around me (in the Northam) it's not even a case of moaning and groaning or getting on the players' backs, just deathly silence for the most part. We sing for five minutes at the start and pipe up again if there's a decent spell thereafter but if it's not going our way after half an hour the atmosphere becomes moribund.

Perhaps the root cause is misplaced expectations for the season or a fanbase spoilt by winning - football is so short-termist that it wouldn't surprise me. It's not even as if you have to go back to the 'Great Escape' seasons to see that the crowd can lift a team though - so many examples to draw upon from the Liebherr era.

It feels like giving up, which is bizarre when you see that Adkins still has a 75% approval rate (albeit from a sample derived purely of Saints Web members), let alone the club itself. Not quite sure what the answer is. Absolutely blew my voice trying to drum up some noise during the Fulham match and there's only so many times you can chant on your own before looking like a bit of a berk.

If the person who finds it so is of limited mental capacity ?

Err, what's to say SMS will not support the team and Adkins on Saturday? Simple fact though is this - Spurs score one and SMS will go quiet (Spurs fans aside). Spurs score two and there'll be some booing. Spurs score 3 or more and the 'Johnny Come Lately's' will be flooding down the aisles to go home.

What about all those that started leaving when we were only 2-1 down to Fulham? Hardly supporting the side. Large parts of the ground are quiet throughout the game, it's time like these when the whole ground needs to try and make a difference.

I didnt find silly name calling "funny", or claim that it was "accurate" despite having no knowledge of the person involved, so I think my mental capacity is far in excess of yours anyway.

Easily settled. If I had 7 apples and I ate 3 apples, and then I threw up two apples how many apples does i have.

First one to answer has superior mental capacity.

Unfortunately Alpine beat you to it, he sent his answer by pm.

Don't take it to heart tho, we can't all be Einsteins.

Gutted.

Do you have the number of the Samaritans?

Most definately time to get behind the lads - they are trying their best - it's a very tough league! Very worried now however :-(

The Stadium was actually rocking against Fulham when we went 1-0 up and before the crazy substitutions that lost the game for us. Yes the crowd at St Mary's are brittle - it seems the hangover from 2 relegations is still with us.
