Sheaf Saint Posted 11 August, 2008 Share Posted 11 August, 2008 Anybody seen this film? I watched it last night and I feel like I need some trauma counselling! I loved it, but it's a seriously disturbing film. Some of the cinematography is incredible and the sequence where the mum goes into a psychosis in her living room is absolutely superb. Highly recommended, but with a warning attached - this film is NOT easy watching.
jeff leopard Posted 11 August, 2008 Share Posted 11 August, 2008 Technically its one of the greatest things ever, the second half does get a bit overwhelming bleak though. Ponty Posted 11 August, 2008 Share Posted 11 August, 2008 It's alright yeah. I found it to be quite a refreshing perspective on the 'drugs movie' theme. Plus, of course, it has that fantastic score.
Marsdinho Posted 11 August, 2008 Share Posted 11 August, 2008 I raved about this film on the old forum.... The end sequence has to be one of the best ive seen for a long long time....
Saintdelboy Posted 11 August, 2008 Share Posted 11 August, 2008 Your opinion mate. I think 30 Seconds to Mars are superb. Saw them at the Guildhall some time ago and they rocked the place. P.s. never seen the film but might give it a try.

tombletomble Posted 13 August, 2008 Share Posted 13 August, 2008 I love this film. I remember watching it with a group of mates a few years ago. As it finished, with everyone sat in silence, trying to take in what they had just seen, a mate said "can we please watch some comedy now. I have to go to bed before work but cant go to bed with that on my mind"
saintkiptanui Posted 13 August, 2008 Share Posted 13 August, 2008 Great film, no film has made me feel quite so melancholy, the ending is superb as is the acting by the mum.
Sheaf Saint Posted 14 August, 2008 Author Share Posted 14 August, 2008 I love this film. I remember watching it with a group of mates a few years ago. As it finished, with everyone sat in silence, trying to take in what they had just seen, a mate said "can we please watch some comedy now. I have to go to bed before work but cant go to bed with that on my mind" That was my reaction to it. I believe I asked my GF and her housemate if we could watch something 'fluffy' to lift my spirits again before bed.
Mr X Posted 18 August, 2008 Share Posted 18 August, 2008 update I have now watched it all the way through and I am in two minds, yes it's deeply effecting thanks in no part to the amazing score and choppy editing, but it's also seems to only make the point that drugs are bad. I guess it's trying to say how easy it is to slip into addiction and how it effects everyone around you. I will say Ellen Burstyn was amazing. Ultimately I really liked the film but am confused to it's dubious drug message.

norwaysaint Posted 19 August, 2008 Share Posted 19 August, 2008 I was going to say, it's the only film I've seen where 2 girls using a double ended dildo has left me depressed.
