vindaloo Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 Why dont you just keep your opinions and comments to yourself. If you dont like it you dont have to do it but to ridicule this is actually quite disgusting and disrespectful. As someone said before, Billy is a footballer, a footballer we own and this is a football match. We cant support every cause but this is a way for people to help Billy in raising awareness of Gastroschisis and the work Billy does to help others who come across the defect. Well said
whelk Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 I think this reeks of scousers. What does it mean? tends to be self-congratulatory and gives the more sanctimonious fans amongst us the idea they are more decent. Clapping for one minute costs nothing to anyone. Make a point by sacrificing something if you feel strongly. Dont in anyway want to disrespect Billy but thought of having to act like a sheep and stand and clap for nothing that I am thinking about is nonsense. I am a bloody football match! Re. applauding generally. I always preferred the silence - far more respectful and reflective.
SaintBobby Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 I love Billy Sharp to bits. And am happy to support his charity. But this new fad of applauding at a pre-determined minute of a football match is just absurd. I start applauding at 11mins, continue to applaud as Spurs are awarded a dodgy penalty at 11mins10secs, still clap as our keeper is sent off at 11mins15secs and finish clapping just after 11mins55secs just as Spurs convert the spot kick? I will find a way to support Billy's foundation in my own private (and financially useful) fashion. I won't be joining in the applause. Sorry.
Turkish Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 Just seen his interview on the GSR. Just such a top guy and such a sad story.
ant Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 I guess it's a nice gesture (assuming Billy knows about it), but if anybody really wants to contribute, donate.

Restark19 Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 It's a nice gesture from the fans of his former/parent club to a player who did a good job for us while he was here, if you don't want to clap don't. It clearly meant a lot to him hearing it so therefore I feel it was worthwhile.
Amesbury Saint Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 I'll be doing it. Nice gesture to a footballer I respect and is one of us. This
sfc4prem Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 Pleased he heard it. One of the reasons we're even in the Premier League. If we do get relegated, god forbid, I wouldn't mind seeing him back alongside Jay Rod or Lambo.

SO16_Saint Posted 28 October, 2012 Author Posted 28 October, 2012 Him and Rodriguez would be stunning in the NPC, IMO. Wouldnt be all that shabby in the PL
Saint_clark Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 Wouldnt be all that shabby in the PL I don't think you've thought that through - that statement implies that Sharp is better than Lambert. In all honesty, I don't think Sharp would make much impact at this level.
Turkish Posted 28 October, 2012 Posted 28 October, 2012 Even the Spurs fans joined in, which annoyed me as I wanted to sing 'no respect my lord' at them.
