Saints v Spurs Build Up

Maybe this thread shouldn't be started yet with the depression of today's game, however I think we'll get a result. Bale to score but we'll beat then 2-1 keep the faith

If we get five we might get a draw.

We did draw 4-4 and 3-3 with them over the years. The also have a history of absolutely stuffing us from time to time. My old brain can remember scores like 6-0, 6-1, 7-2, 5-1, 5-3 and a few others - and they weren't wins either!

We could really, really get hammered, the must be rubbing their hands with glee...

Saints 0 Spurs 6, I dont like to say it but this time I will be hiding behind my seat, or may even bring Daniel (2 year old) to run on pitch to get game called off it could be that bad.

Saints were definatley promotion candidates last season purley on the attacking flair, but we did get lucky at the back, this season we dont look good defending at all be it in 8 seconds or 94 mins

We will score, but we will also concede lots of goals.

Lennon, Bale, Defoe, Dembele will have an absolute field day. Let's be honest.

They will all need to be off their game, and we will need to learn how to defend in 8 days to have even the slightest chance. They are in a different universe to us.

Listening to a 'Spud' on 606 earlier he said Spuds were abysmal and lost. I thought at the time 'wouldn't that be lovely if they repeated that next Sunday against us?' I know it's early but I think we may just get a 1 - 1 draw out of this.

They wouldn't even need to overstretch themselves to breach our defense.

I think we need to bring about the change of manager now and hope that a bit of fear does the trick to galvanise the team to at least make some kind of effort and run hard. The regime and team is too kind and fluffy at the moment, get Chaplow with the skipper's armband, he's not the best player ever but he'll get in Spurs faces and Morgan excepted as he's been the only other player who has tried for the shirt this season, the rest need to follow suit. Get 10 behind the ball when they have possession and break when you can. We'll need Mayuka's pace on the break. I want u to be a horrible team to face and for St Mary's to be a tough place to come, we are simply too easy to beat.

The fans are going to turn big time next week if they don't see a million times more closing down and work rate. We are the 20th best team so we have to outwork and fight teams.

Spurs have never scored a goal at St Mary's, but I fully expect that bit of trivia to be smashed to **** next week. It really doesn't make much difference whether Spurs play crap or not, they have some frightening prospects in attack who will simply end up making a mockery of our defensive frailties again.

3-2 saints if we play Gazza

18-0 spurs if we play Boruc or Davis.......

(note this is tongue in cheek)

Aim for a win, look delighted at a draw, could loose. Spurs aren't all that, Bale, Dempsey, Dembele are their best players, everyone else is a bit average/poor. They are a team on the down a bit which should help, though they still are better than us.

-----------Gazza------------

Clyne fonte yoshida shaw

Punch davis morgan lallana

Lambert mayuka

Obviously adkins won't go with 4-4-2 but with bale and lennon fullbacks will need support. I don't think ramirez will be out for 4 weeks altho west brom game more realistic I think. Let's use mayuka's pace and get behind the slow spurs defence (gallas/caulker). Walker was woeful yesterday so hopefully lallana will get some joy out of him.

As we always do, but there's nothing wrong with voicing opinions on the things that are going horrifically wrong at the moment. I never, ever in my worst nightmares expected us to be as bad as we are.

Personally i don`t think we are as bad as some of the ott comments suggest ,just really struggling to come to terms with the division

Every mistake is being punished big time and it is destroying the confidence...

For me everyone at the club is on a massive learning curve and it is bloody steep, several are slipping back badly.. but i hope and

pray this learning will happen quickly and we move on...

I believe we can be much much better as past performances have shown and i am desparate for it to improve as i am sure we all are

COYS...

I think we'll win. Don't know why.

You just get these feelings sometimes. I was going to the Wigan game, but got rid of the tickets. Could have gone, but daughter was ill so thought I better get home. During the build up I was in the megastore and just thought, this is not going to be a good game or result. I jumped in the car after passing the tickets on, and went home.

I had a great feeling about the Vila game, but took until the second half!

These feelings are not always right though!

We'll need to be wary of them, and be really compact. Bale and Defoe have been scoring for fun recently and they've got some excellent attacking players.

------------------GAZZA--------------

CLYNE----FONTE-----JOS---MAYA

---------MORGAN----DAVIS--------

PUNCH-------LALLANA------GULY

-----------------LAMBERT------------

Subs: Boruc, Fox, Seaborne, Chaplow, JWP, Mayuka, Rodriguez

    "Compact, fvkin' compact - have you seen us play - we've got more holes than a holey thing..... fvkin' compact....!!!!" My I larfed...!

Har har. What I meant by that was that their wide players like to cut in, so our midfield needs to play deep and stop Dembele etc drifting into space around the box.

I think we should drop Lambert for the next five games in a row. This is genius for several reasons - he's desperate for a rest, its good practice for the team for when he really is injured. And this would make him the ultimate impact player - the brilliant shock factor will completely destabilise the opposition when we finally play him again bringing him on in the 85th minute on Boxing Day.

We always win the first game under a new manager (?!)

I can literally not remember a time where our new manager won his first game :-( Seems to work for everyone but Saints! Also damn the echo telling me of spurs injury headache ... thinking more than one player out possible points for Saints ... nope just Dembele possibly out! Gulp! Will do well to get anywhere near a point methinks! Dump Boruc till he's fit and stick Gazza or Davis back between the sticks.
