You played your part in a great rise up through the leagues,oh and Pardew played his part well too,but alas you must go.

yeah I know I have been banging on about how lack lustre he would be in the top flight for an age,but he has had his time.

Great in the lower leagues, but the Premiership I'm afraid he falls short, which was going to be patently obvious.

Thanks for everything.

Onwards and upwards for Saints if he departs.

With the shower of ****e that is our defence then probably yes - it simply isn't good enough. That said, I think Cortese is going to act sooner rather than later.

so, fergie or poortaloo would have got the same results....

utter bollix

I remember WGS having a defence with Willo and Telfer and made a good fist of it......we are just a shambles.....from set pieces, when people run at us...everything...that runs deeper than just having better players

Honestly, you lot are f***ing unbelievable. Have you really learnt nothing from our last 20 years of managerial musical chairs? Are you really so ready to give up on a talented manager who actually wants to be here just because of one single bad run of results? Did anybody really expect we would be setting the PL alight this season?

I'm f***ing ashamed to support the same team as you pathetic bunch of whingers. So what if Cortese does pull the trigger and sack him? What then? Anybody else coming in will still have the same squad of players to work with until January, and the disruption of changing managers, changing systems/tactics etc... will only result in us being in a worse position by then.

We've all been saying for years that what we need is consistency. We need a manager who will commit to the long term to stabilise the team and move us forward. Managers learn from their mistakes and Nigel has earned the right to prove he can learn from his this season. Sacking him would not only make us more likely to get relegated, it would take us back to the dark days of Lowe et al when managers were shown the door after the first run of bad results and the cycle repeated itself. I really, really, hope we don't go down that route.

Yep, apart from it wasnt Nigels decision.

I boq to your superior knowledge of our transfer dealings. However, were all the other inept summer signings made by Nigel or are they not his fault too? Is it someone's else's decision to not play Lambert and to change the keeper for an unfit one? The fact is, as a manager, you have to take the flak as well as the credit. Nigel has been great, but he is out of his depth. It is his squad of players and his tactics.

so bexy...should have have stuck with wotte...? should have have stuck with wigley..?

if a manager is not up to it..he is not up to it...letting in a record number of goals says one thing to me......

No, we shouldn;t have stuck with Wotte because he was clearly the crap, cheap option in the first place. Adkins is a talented, young (ish) manager who I have no doubt will go on to bigger and better things, and I would rather he did it with us.

Who do you replace Adkins with though? Benitez gets mentioned and would suit our long-term view, but what if he doesn't want to come along? Who else can do a better job than Adkins with the players we have, with the defence we have?

True that, we could afford to take a bit of a risk then, moreso than now IMO. What we need now (again, IMO) if we are to replace NA is Prem experience, otherwise what's the point? We appointed NA as he had experience of getting a team promoted to the Championship. We now need experience of life in the Prem.

I also want to stick to our long-term view of building a club for the future, which rules the likes of Harry out who can't seem to sit still for that long.

biudling for the future may mean short term stability rather than a manager who is expected to be here 10 years

It needs three to five really decent signings in key positions and for all of them to stay fit. Don't think that'll happen so possibly might be better to let Adkins carry the can and look good to prospective managers having stuck by him.
