Police and Crime Commissioner Elections

My polling card turned up yesterday. I normally vote in every election but hadn't even considered bothering with this until looking into the candidates and discovering that Michael Mates is standing for the Tories.

 

Now there's a reason to vote because surely no one (irrespective of party allegiance) could want this chump in charge of anything apart from his own bladder, which considering he's 78 he probably won't have much control over these days anyway.

Yep ---damn silly idea, totally pointless, unnecessary waste of time and public money to elect these commissioners in the first place , but I'm in the 'anyone but Mates' camp.
