How many would Lambert have scored tonight?

I can't believe ITV show this rather than Coronation St.

With their dull team of Rubber Faced Brummie Twa^t Adrian, and the wooden f^cker Townsend as an expert, I'd far rather watch the Street frankly.

ok - only joking *

Know its hard when team sits back but can't help wondering how many Lambert would have got tonight?

(clearly game is boring as now logged on here instead!)

He would definitely have scored and that I'm sure. But he would find it hard fitting in with those world beating players, Cleverly, Caroll and Shelvey, to name just a few and that master class passer Carrick. But to be fair, it is always hard playing against a pub team, they do defend deep.

there you go with those hypothetical questions again . you'll upset Turkish you know.

Certainly RL has lots of experience of scoring against lower level sides, where perhaps the " cultured Prem. style " of pretty football doesn't always cut it.

But it's not unusual for top sides to struggle against the minnows in such fixtures. I'm just reading reports about Sweden's game against The Faroe Islands yesterday.

They are the Nordic equivalent of San Marino or Andorra, and play on a plastic surface, as the Arctic-like climate and the strong winds make it difficult to maintain a grass pitch of any quality.

Faroe Islands actually took a second half lead, but it took a 2nd half subbing to bring Anders Svensson into the game and tighten up their ineffective midfield rabble.

Sweden eventually scored a goal and only a goalie-battering late effort from Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave them the points (won 2-1).

We will never know what Rickie might have done,in the England match, but it would have been fun seeing what he would have done with some of the chances we had and failed to convert.

England were absolutely dire. After a while I just got bored rigid at all the backwards and sidewards passing and the number of times we gave the ball away needlessly. Had we been playing a much better team than San Marino, we would have been on the receiving end of a defeat, playing so poorly.

RL may well have had a shot at the goal wheras our forwards seemed to want to pass rather than have a pop at goal. I thought we looked a lot more energetic when Shelvey came on and impressed me as i have never rated him before. he changed the tempo

Except, of course, smarter teams do things to stretch the play so you don't end up trying to play in 3 cms of space. I think he'd have done ok if he'd have found a little bit of space. Thought Shelvey didn't do anything special, Carrick is a crab, Cleverley doesn't know where to run or how (applies to pretty much all of them, however), and Carroll on the one occasion he got the ball to feet showed he isn't very comfortable at all with that and then doesn't know where to go. Mind you, it was only once and you'd have to see him over several games to know if he's a carthorse with lead wellies on the deck or can play a good holding role.

As an England fan, please let's not bring in 30 year olds for their first caps, we are two years away from a tournament, we should and did play youngsters we won 5-0, job done

As a saints fan I'm sure rickie would of bagged a couple, but really what would that of achieved long term for england?

The idiot Andy Townsend who played for us made bambi on ice Welbeck man of the match but although he scored he screwed up/missed 10 other opportunities that Lambert would have done better with. Dreadful what with Cleverley's hopeless misses against the Ukraine. The future maybe - the present not good enough
