Colinjb Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Quite a surprise really. Apparently a mixture of his desire to return to the south coast and the ambition of Bournemouth attracted him back. What does it say about Burnley though? Certainly an odd one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19927379
Saint Garrett Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 And Kris Temple said he would commentate on their game as Elvis if Eddie Howe or Redknapp were made manager. as 'he had more chance'. Woops... Certainly an odd one, shows that Burnley have no ambition whatsoever.
stevegrant Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Not much Burnley could do about it, really. Howe has cited personal and family reasons for wanting to go back to Bournemouth, apparently his wife has struggled to settle up north when all their family and friends are on the south coast, and Bournemouth have almost certainly paid a small fortune in compensation. The talk earlier in the week was a release fee of £1.4m but that takes into account Bournemouth writing off the remainder owed by Burnley for Danny Ings. Still, Howe won't get another "step up" job again after this, so he'd better make another decent fist of the Bournemouth job otherwise that'll be his career over. Surely his "dream job" would have been those "Sleeping Giants" he used to play for. Especially as Appy is the most wanted manager in Greater Manchester at the moment. Saint J 77 Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 His leaving Bournemouth when he did worked in our favour. I'm not sure we would have caught Bournemouth if he had stayed. I guess we will never know for sure what could of happened if he stayed that season. I think though going back isn't such a wise decision. I'm not sure lighting will strike twice for him there, but its certainly an interesting decision and one i will take an interest in seeing how it develops. Crazy Diamond Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 He's small fry. I cut my teeth in the journo game by working at Bournemouth and spent a lot of time working with him. He and Steve Fletcher loved being the small fish in the micro-sized pond that is Bournemouth. Not entirely surprised being in the Championship with a former Premier League club was too much for him. That said he did a good job. The one thing that always struck me was the team spirit at Bournemouth in the year they won promotion to League One, and the attitude around the squad when they were battling against oblivion, bogged down by a 17 point deduction, facing relegation and going out of business. At Burnley I know for a fact that's not the case as I'm friends with a certain Burnley player that will also be returning to Bournemouth with Tindall and Howe, and he let me know quite often about the lack of harmony at Turf Moor. As Steve said, he won't ever get another chance like that, and he picked Burnley above Peterborough and Charlton. He won't have that luxury of choice ever again. I think it'll go tits up at Bournemouth again personally. Not enough fans watching, Mitchell is a madman, too many overpaid players and a lack of transparency with the money. Wow. Now that I say that, I realise I could be talking about a club a lot closer to my heart...
