Hatch Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 I don't think anybody cares anymore. I'm surprised he didn't give it to some random Liverpool reserve plaver.

Dimond Geezer Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Personally I'd have given it to Hart whilst he still has an umblemished reputation.
dinger Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 I was going to say, the only other genuinely senior players who are likely to start seem to be Hart and Carrick. A lot of people don't favour a keeper as skipper (I'd be one of them) and Carrick refused to travel to the Euros. There's hardly a wealth of options. Hamilton Saint Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Rooney is not worthy to be captain, because of his on-field behaviour (lack of effort, lack of self-control, and lack of leadership attributes) and his off-field conduct (lack of moral fibre - an old-fashioned attitude, I grant you, but one I still believe in). The Cat Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 It really doesn't matter who is captain, and I wish people would stop making out it does.

skintsaint Posted 13 October, 2012 Share Posted 13 October, 2012 think Cahill is my choice, Terrys ready made replacement.
alpine_saint Posted 13 October, 2012 Author Share Posted 13 October, 2012 It really doesn't matter who is captain, and I wish people would stop making out it does. Its an honourary appointment, and one he barely deserves. Lets not forget how he nearly derailed Euro 2012 with his red card in the last qualifier, then his mostly non-existence when he did play, and in South Africa. When did Rooney last have a good game for England ? And like many others- Lampard and Gerrard immediately spring to mind - when did he reprduce his club form for England. Hamilton Saint Posted 15 October, 2012 Share Posted 15 October, 2012 It really doesn't matter who is captain, and I wish people would stop making out it does. Well, I disagree. Good or bad leadership can have a tremendous effect on the morale and, therefore, the performance of any group or team. Just look at the Saints. The lack of strong leadership on the pitch has been a long-standing weakness of the team. A good captain is usually a key element in a highly-successful team.
