Saint Charlie Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Nominated for African Player of the Year. Probably no chance of winning considering the competition but good for the guy, and to those that say he is an "unknown" it kind of ruins the point. Saint_clark Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Out of interest, who else has been nominated? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19843145 Quite a few unknowns, which kind of un-ruins the point of Mayuka being one. Drogba is surely a dead cert for the award considering the champions league run.

There are a couple of relative unknowns fair enough but generally a strong list, some really good players there - and the Prem representatives are very strong. JRM Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 34 players is a hell of a lot to have nominated, if it was say top 10 it might actually mean something
Saint Garrett Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Very much looking forward to seeing him when he's fit again. Looked very lively when he came on vs Villa and caused them lots of problems, also very different to what we have.

The9 Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 agent John Utaka seems to have revealed himself Seeing as he scored 2 vital goals to win Montpellier the French League last season, I think he may have undermined his cover a tad sooner than this. I had forgotten about him though.

Doctoroncall Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Cortese has scouted every single one of them I wonder how many he's messed up the negotiations with? Good for Mayuka, he's still young and hopefully can be as good as the best on that list in time.
Saint Garrett Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Also good that we paid no agents fee or anything to sign him. Good on Cortese.
JPTCount Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 he was top scorer at the African nations and I think he won player of the tournament, and he might get alot of sentiment/sympathy votes given the country's tragic footballing history and the recent success.
