Dimond Geezer Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 Not quite done & dusted yet, final list to be confirmed next year, hopefully we'll be on it.
stevegrant Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 The 17 will be reduced to 12 next year, and geographically we're probably competing directly with Brighton. Considering the ****athon that continues whenever anyone in the media mentions the Amex, I wouldn't hold out that much hope, to be honest.
suewhistle Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 Mind you Steve, unless BHA expand the ground the crowd capacity of SMS should help, given that the Rugby Union have to give the IRB £81million and need to sell a shed load of tickets. We're talking Pompey CVA figures here!
The Kraken Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 I doubt the monetary incentive will be all that. We'll only get group games and certainly not any England games (or perhaps even home nations); I can't see there being a huge clamour for watching Tonga v Romania. Junction 9 Posted 9 October, 2012 Share Posted 9 October, 2012 Really hope we get it, was out in NZ last year for the RWC and it was awesome. All the atmosphere of football, without the utter bellends.

Historically maybe but I went to a local comprehensive and the school rugby team was just as popular as the football team. Half of them were common as muck and lived in council houses. The older rugby fans are probably more middle class but it's not exactly Eton vs Harrow.
Manuel Posted 11 October, 2012 Share Posted 11 October, 2012 As a condition, would it be worth suggesting that we make them wear slippers so they don't mess up the pitch?
Window Cleaner Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Except it will be in England where nearly all rugby fans are utter bellends. I quite like Rugby actually, I go to most Clermont ASM games, going tomorrow to see them against Scarlets, cheap seats 13 euros.

Never been to a match then! As Lighthouse, I went to the local comp & played rugby, my sons also go to the local comp & play, both at school & for a club, they are coached (amongst others) by a kitchen fitter, a groundworker, an ex-squaddie and bloke that installs hoists for the disabled, none of which went to Eton . miserableoldgit Posted 13 October, 2012 Share Posted 13 October, 2012 Personally I really hope this happens. I love Saints but I love Rugby as well. My trips to Twickenham to watch Rugby are completely different and far more enjoyable that trips to Wembley. Much more of a complete experience. Junction 9 Posted 13 October, 2012 Share Posted 13 October, 2012 Me too What games did you see I saw England v Scotland and England v France, both at Eden park. I don't even know the rules to rugby but loved every minute of it. Was out there for 3 weeks travelling around in a camper van.
Joesaint Posted 13 October, 2012 Share Posted 13 October, 2012 Except it will be in England where nearly all rugby fans are utter bellends. Wow, love my football but also love the Rugby - mixed fans for a little extra banta and beer allowed! Wish we had a top club to support here, but we don't, but would love the RWC here.
