No.

A thoroughly decent bloke, who has done us proud, taking us beyond expectation from the day he arrived. He will be a good prem manager, in time.

Having said that though, is the above argument purely based on sentiment ? His substitutions today weaken the case in my view although I'd like to stick with him.

Nice to see so many no's. Adkins is not perfect but he's been brilliant for us and has a good chance of keeping us up if we can get to January with our heads just above water.

He has one too many Championship players to work with and talk all you want about tatics......it's been individual errors which have cost us so far this season.

What is this miracle scheduled to occur in January ?

We are going to plug all the gaps in 4 weeks that we so conspicuously failed to manage in 4 months ?

But he is far too open though.. And remains to be..

Wgs had Paul Williams and Paul Telfor in defence..... He made us hard to beat... And went from there.

We have good forward players who will get us goals even if we are more defensive... But at the mo.. We are just so easy to play against... Even a woeful Fulham team without their two strikers.. Who stink on the road scored twice and looked dangerous against us..

Yet we continue to float around in midfield and upfront

You want happy clappy LaLa land?

Not at all, just over the top on here. 7 games in and 4th from bottom. This is about what I expected. We will stay up in IMHO, but if we do not, who would you prefer to get us back up? Saying that, even if he was sacked, who would be better suited to wht we are 'trying' to achieve.

The feeling in the ground is much better than on here..... Thank god!

Drama queens!

No. Like the team he is new to the top tier and learning. We had a five year plan that he delivered three years early. In my opinion he is still owed those three years. Sacking him would be a ridiculous move.

Cortese expected us to win the league last season. The idea that Adkins acheived anything "early" is simply wrong.

Really? Today is the 1st game I've missed & I find that the mood and views of the fans are no different to those on here.

Oh ok. I stand corrected. Please tell me why three years early is "simply wrong". I am not being funny or rude just curious.

Maybe 3/4 of the way through the season he did, but not at the start. I do not think anyone on here thought we would go up last season, and lets hope that you are all wrong again. We will stay up, I really do believe this. This could change over time, but not after 7 games with 3 being arsenal, man city, and arsenal.

How much time in the Premiership did we have with these players before the season started? How much time to learn did we have, to understand how well they would perform in the Premiership? We had a good idea of who would and wouldn't cut it, but couldn't possibly prove it.

Come Jan that will be very different, for Adkins or for his successor if he is (wrongly, IMO) sacked before then. It should now be clear where our weaknesses are and where we need to add quality. Additionally, those gaps we need to plug are few - full backs, a CB and maybe a defensive midfielder.

Wrong. Cortese said it, quoted, in, I think, early September. Might have been late August.

Cannot agree with this. The same as the support for the manager and Guly.

The fans around me cannot abide Guly but support the manager but still question his tactics and substitutions. Please explain to me how that is different than on here.

Last week at Everton everyone around us could see issues with the shape and line up and shock, horror, when I got home, people on here said the same.

Originally there was a 5 year plan; with 2 years set aside to get out of League 1. But Cortese did an interview after sacking Pardew, saying that expectations had changed with us spending a good deal of money in the January window i.e. he expected promotion from it. It was an original 5 year plan but that soon changed, according to Cortese himself.

Exactly.

I couldn't really care who our manager is if results are doing the talking.

Anyone who thinks NC will keep Adkins if we go down because he is the right man to bring us back up is in cuckoo land IMO. It won't get that far down the line. Somewhere there is a time limit or point target that if we are not on track NC will pull the trigger.

Could be 10 games, end of November or Christmas but he will go if NC is not happy.

I thought we'd go up and lumped on it and got a nice wedge in return. I wasn't alone in that either.

You can have your own opinion but not your own facts.

The problem with your argument is that the shopping list you wrote is more-or-less identical to that being discussed by posters on here during the summer. So this "learning" theory seems a bit weak, tbh.

I'd agree with that although I'd like to think we'd stick by Adkins I don't think we will.
