Adkins post match conference

Why is it "balls" ?

You dont think after spending 30m of the Liebherr's money, that NC is turning the screw for results ? You really dont have a clue about our CEO, it seems...

Do you not think Adkins would be turning the screw himself? We need better defenders and based upon today a better midfielder than Davis, but he only cost a couple of million, certainly Lambert was off the boil too, he didn't cost much.

Half the outlay of 30 million was not on the pitch due to injury, I am referring to Ramirez and Cline. Is Rodrigues ready for the Premiership? Not sure...so those 3 players account for 22 million. Davis was 2 million...makibg 24 million. Who else is there? Gazza played well.

Would a full strength Fulham have beaten Saints today? Probably. We must look at QPR and other teams, and acknowledge how difficult a job it is to get a new team to play.

Whats the going rate for another 2 commanding defenders? Do tell!!!

Funny....I thought Davis had his best game for us today. Made numerous vital challenges and broke up the play when we were on the back foot.

I thought he had a good game too. Likewise JRod seemed better today and Gazza looked very assured and his kicking was excellent. Maya looked well out of position at RB, as he was, but showed he is a good 1-on-1 defender and is confident on the ball. So if we're judging signings, it's not all bad today.

He was OK don't get me wrong....we are supposed to be buying better than we have and he is an improvement but is he enough of an improvement?

In his position last season were Hammond, Chaplow, Morgan and Cork, one of which played, another is injured, so I definitely think he is an improvement to those he has actually replaced.

I'm assuming Liverpool fans have 500 threads on their forum tonight demanding answers for dropping more points

And that the Geordies are working out how to pay AP compo for his 100 year contract when they sack him next week.

75% of our current problem is that our players are cowards. They don't have the guts to do what the boss tells them. Two decent passes against them and we revert to 8 men within 10 feet of our own box.

The problem is the players not doing what they are told and nobody on the pitch with the nous to do something about it.

Whatever Marketing Luvvie came up with the idea that Lallana should be our on pitch Leader...

Jeez since he's been captain his own game has dropped off let alone the team. Fonte is showing guts on the pitch (to the amazement of many) give him the armband and let Adam concentrate on his own game

Not when the Manager continues to make such Stupid, Needless substitutions

Adkins has not, nor has he any intention, of learning ANYTHING from the mistakes he continues to make

Go on then - tell us how any of the subs resulted in us going 2-1 down. Start with Richardson......

Is the opinion on Adkins starting to change amoungst the fans? Up until the last couple of games everyone has been behind the manager and there has been a lot of goodwill but now people are beginging to question his decisions.

this is the BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE Turkish, few teams have a divine right to win.....Have we forgotten who we played in the first four games ?

If we turned around in December, and said that we'd lost to; Man.City, Man Utd, Arsenal and Everton .....few eyebrows would have been raised.....what a good job we didn't also have Chelsea in August !

^ This (although I'd be tempted to go with Steven Davis given he already does the job at international level)

To be fair, nine Of those have come against United, City and Everton so a bit of a skewed stat. As for a defensive coach, what does 'Crozzer' do then? He's a former centre half.

To be fair, we were 2-1 up against City with about 15 mins to go and gave them at least 1 goal

We were 2-1 up against United with 4 minutes to go and gave them 2 goals

This was only the second match i have been at the ground to watch in full this season, but certainly yesterday it was clear that Fonte was the on pitch leader.

I have been to more games but agree. Jose has improved every game. Either him or S Davis for capt and take some of the burden off of AL

Personally like the idea of a ex well respected defender coming in as defensive coach. The 2 goals we conceded yesterday came from low crosses into the box yet most full backs/defenders are taught to try and stop players crossing so takes away that threat, also not entirely the full backs fault as feel the players we have got playing wide in midfield are strong attacking but not very good at helping and covering the full backs thus leaving them exposed too much.

Careful Phil--far too reasoned a response..............spot on though

I think we'd have won if Richardson hadn't got injured. Yoshida was awful at right back, not his fault he was playing out of position but Fulham targeted that second half. As for Hooliveld, he simply isn't good enough. He's a top man but not a top player.

They may have targeted Yoshi but actually made no difference. Yoshi was awful I agree, but neither Fulham goal was even indirectly caused by him.

I've been thinking about this since yesterday, because Nigel did seem quite "down" - not just post-match but even during the match, and that's unlike him.

People have speculated about whether he's under increasing pressure from NC, and that's very likely - but it's also part of the job and Nigel is philosophical enough to know that and deal with it.

However, I can't help wondering if there's more to it than just the normal the pressure for results - if there's something else behind the scenes that's weighing heavily on him. After all, he didn't even get excited when we went ahead, which he normally does.

If so, I can only think of two (related) things.

Firstly, Ramirez could be out long term. That particular injury can be very nasty because it can take quite a time to resolve bleeding into the muscle mass; losing Gaston for 6-8 weeks, or god forbid even more, would be a big blow.

Secondly, I could understand it if Cortese was hopping mad that such an expensive asset could be lost long-term as a result of an impact injury suffered during training.

Just wondering, because all didn't seem well with him yesterday.

I'd be mad as well. The number of players we lose to training ground injuries does seem disproportionately high.
