And still better than lallana

No he wasn't, Lallana was average yesterday and gave the ball away, Puncheon was worse, he wasted the ball when in good positions on several occasions, ran into people, always went inside and didn't track back (something he has failed to do all season). Not to mention he missed a sitter and his stupid little kick on Schwarzer when the goal was ruled out. He's had one good game this season IMO.

Which if he hadn't of bottled, Rodriguez was waiting to be slipped in for a 1 on 1. Whether he would've scored that remains to be seen, I've seen nothing from him to suggest he can score goals in the PL.

Should never have let Sharp go.

WHat kick? I didn't see that on any replays. Schwarzer fell over without being touched big girl that he was and the referee fell for it.

If you watched MOTD you'll have seen Schwarzer wasn't even touched and just fell over on his own accord
he probably did just touch him but yeh Schwarzer dived, Fulham were lucky to get away with that IMO.

He was blocking Schwarzer off which was fine, but he backheeled Schwarzer which while he didn't get enough connection to send the big keeper down it seemed at the time to be what got the goal dissallowed. however a few here seem to think Clattenburg was pointing to Lambert as if something he had done got the goal ruled out.

Either way was a poor decision and the goal probably would have stood if we were Utd or Chelsea. No need for Puncheon to try the kick in the first place though.

Having just trawled through 210 posts it is easy to see why Nigel has an almost impossible task to please the masses !

Conflicting opinions all over the place - he was right on this, he was wrong on that !

The fact is that it is not an exact science - it is sport, it is unpredictable, it is volatile !

Had Puncheon's goal stood and we went 2 up, I reckon that we would have closed the game out, but it was not to be and after that Nigel had to make some tough decisions !

He did, was he right or was he wrong ??

We'll never know, but at least he tried his best !!

Yeah, the good old stiff upper lip British way ....... " That's our British No 1, he came 78th, but he did a personnal best " Great philosophy

If you look at the subs he made, they're understandable:

Puncheon off, Chaplow on

Gives Lallana more license to push up into the final third with a more defensively geared player coming into midfield. Also provides more cover for Yoshi at RB.

Lambert off, Guly on

Adkins spoke about needing more energy up top, and that's what Guly gave us. He has pace, he ran at players and made lots of runs to pull their defenders out of position. He also dropped deeper at times to collect the ball and move it up the pitch with short passes as opposed to just lumping it up to Jay Rod.

Now personally I would've taken Puncheon off for Ward-Prowse, with Davis moving to RM, and put Mayuka on for Jay Rod with Lambert still linking up playing the #10. However I don't think the subs cost us today. We were unlucky to concede the OG (Jos didn't get enough of his foot on the ball, you could see from the angle behind the goal that he was trying to put it into the Kingsland but his foot was at the wrong angle because the ball came in so quickly) and their 2nd was inevitable.

A very harsh indictment on what I meant as a reasonable, even handed post !

FWIW, I consider Nigel to be an honest, hard working individual and when he makes mistakes I'm sure that it is always with the best of intentions !

No doubt eventually the short term thickos will get their way and he'll be replaced by a mercenary 'big name' but will we be any better for it ?

Personally I doubt it, but that's the way it goes in the sordid world of football as we know it !
