Mr Saints Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Our best player on the bench. Clueless decision.
Wade Garrett Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I reckon there's been a bit of a barney between Adkins and Lambert. Great bit of management to drop him though. It is like Branfoot all over again. Ridiculous. Hopefully it will work, but I can't see it.
JustMike Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 My god Nig you have this wrong. Shocking decision
PhilippineSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I've had two weeks of looking forward to this. That means we get hammered. think positive my friend think Nuns breasts cold beer and sneaky whatever it is this weekend

Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 It's stuff like this why I think Nigel is just not up to it
Dalek2003 Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Well, looking forward to this one, just for the intriguing team selection. Anyone think NA has done this to counter Fat Sams assumptions and trump Fat Sam's game plan ?
ThreeSixty Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 As the worlds biggest GDP fan. I wouldn't have dropped Lambo for him. Maybe JRod but not Lambo.
Bad Wolf Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 @officialsaints: West Ham team: Jaaskelainen, Tomkins, Reid, Collins, McCartney, Noble, Nolan ©, Diame, Benayoun, Jarvis, Carroll. #saintsfc Lol, they're gonna murder us.
Colinjb Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Oh boy.... Very similar set up to the first half v Man City, Rickie to come on to change the game? Wasn't confident before, even less so now.
dubai_phil Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 think positive my friend think Nuns breasts cold beer and sneaky whatever it is this weekend Luckily being at the Beach Bar today we shouldn't need the match thread to be able to gawp scantily clad bewbs. Can see what NA is thinking with the team. As long as it is JRod up front and not out wide right...
Dalek2003 Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 It's stuff like this why I think Nigel is just not up to it Bold statement, lets hope you are eating your words by 5.00pm !
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Well I'd say we're going to pack midfield anyway and rely on some hard grafting from JRod (at first) and then Rickie ploughing lone furrows at the point of the attack trying to make it happen for the midfield masses following in behind. Might just work I suppose.
Shrek Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I was quite confident before I saw that lineup!! Oh well, let's go for a sneaky 1-0 with Guly forcing the ball over the line from a corner. With his arse.
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Bold statement, lets hope you are eating your words by 5.00pm ! I really hope I am too But on the face of it...seems like a decision from someone not up to it what so ever
Wade Garrett Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 It's stuff like this why I think Nigel is just not up to it Careful, I got vilified for giving my honest opinion on the Adkins Poll thread.
Wiggles31 Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Against Man City there was a degree of logic for bringing Lambert on later but Christ were playing West Ham here. Awful decision in a game that is gonna be won on aerial battles and our number one CF is on the bench for that useless bell Guly.
trousers Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Anyone know what Mayuka has to do to grab a starting position?
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Anyone think we're going 3 at the back with Yoshi sweeping behind Jos and José and playing a libero role as well? I can see that working actually, in fact after reflecting for a while I can see the plan clear as day.
MOSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Lunacy from Adkins, especially if Guly plays CF and Rodriguez gets played down the left.
doggface Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Judge after 95 mins.... Brave or stupid? Stay tuned.
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Careful, I got vilified for giving my honest opinion on the Adkins Poll thread. I gave up on Adkins being our manager by the turn of the year when he took lambert off against Fulham and created another hilarious tactical decision He is out of his depth
ThreeSixty Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 He plays when he wants, he plays when he waaaaaaaaaaaaaants GULY DO PRADO he plays when he wants.
InvictaSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why did Simon Peach tweet about Lee warming up if the guy isn't even on the bench?
saintbob40 Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Weirdly we appear to have spent 20 mill or so and ended up with a worse team......
Yarm Saint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Ohhhhhhh nooooooooooooo not pooveld again...i despair
SO5 4BW Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 We said all this before the City game - and yes I know we lost, but gave a much better account of ourselves than any of us thought we would. Think SRL will still play a part today
ThreeSixty Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why did Simon Peach tweet about Lee warming up if the guy isn't even on the bench? Confused him with Yoshi. All look a like or something.
PhilippineSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I've had two weeks of looking forward to this. That means we get hammered. think positive my friend think Nuns breasts cold beer and sneaky whatever it is this weekend
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why did Simon Peach tweet about Lee warming up if the guy isn't even on the bench? We probably sold about 50000 shirts in a Tokyo supermarket in between the time he tweeted and the time the team sheet was announced.
andybeal Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why is Gazzaniga not on the bench? Don't agree with dropping him at all to be honest.
Matthew Le God Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why did Simon Peach tweet about Lee warming up if the guy isn't even on the bench? Teams take a 19th man to away games in case of injuries during warm-up etc.
IronCitySaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 The first direct team we have played this season and the player most capable of dealing with it is dropped. Baffling.
buctootim Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Good display of bedwetting going on. West Ham play hoofball over the middle. RL plays deep and isnt very mobile and possibly has a knock. Whose got more tactical nous - the guy who got us promoted twice with a 66% win ratio - or DD? um.....
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Why is Gazzaniga not on the bench? Don't agree with dropping him at all to be honest. Game for hard men today.
MOSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 For me if Guly has to start the formation should be; Punch--------Guly--------Lallana -------------Lambert------------ NA's idea that he should be Lambert's replacement is mind-boggling.
InvictaSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Teams take a 19th man to away games in case of injuries during warm-up etc. Ta. Didn't know that. Makes sense now.

Whose got more tactical nous - the guy who got us promoted twice with a 66% win ratio - or DD? um..... Rickie is miles better at winning the ball in the air and holding it up more than anyone else. He is probably our 2nd best defender at set pieces and best attacker at set pieces This is the sort of game we need him in
jjsaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Not a lineup that inspires confidence. Sounds like an easy three points for them.
Nexstar Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I won't be bedwetting just yet. I expected a defeat, so some changes in the way we are approaching the game may end up being a masterstroke. In Adkins we trust.
Dalek2003 Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Ok....really looking forward to this now. NA must have a good reason for putting Lambert on the bench, it could be a make or break decision. Can only hope it somehow unsettles FaT Sam's tactics as I am sure he has been working on stopping Lambo. Intriguing !
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I gave up on Adkins being our manager by the turn of the year when he took lambert off against Fulham and created another hilarious tactical decision He is out of his depth 100% agree.

He is probably our 2nd best defender at set pieces and best attacker at set pieces This is the sort of game we need him in I agree hes valuable at set pieces at both ends. I just think were set up to play this game counter attacking on the break- and RL isnt fast enough for that.
THEVMAN Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Im afraid Guly starting smells like NC getting involved with picking the team abit, its his bum boy.
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I agree hes valuable at set pieces at both ends. I just think were set up to play this game counter attacking on the break- and RL isnt fast enough for that. Lets see if we actually try and counter attack
MOSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I agree hes valuable at set pieces at both ends. I just think were set up to play this game counter attacking on the break- and RL isnt fast enough for that. I hope we aren't looking to play on the counter today, the team isn't anywhere near good enough at soaking up pressure to do it properly.
CanadaSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Adkins obviously wants more mobility up front with the goal of undoing West Ham with some pace, and I can see his logic even if I've got serious doubts about leaving Rickie out. However, I think there's a better defensive argument for keeping him in against this lot.
MOSaint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Adam Blackmore has tweeted that Guly is starting down the left. So at the very least Rodriguez is playing in his proper position.

However, I think there's a better defensive argument for keeping him in against this lot. Think it's shift work myself, 2 CFs 45 minutes all out effort each. As for the defensive qualities of SRL, well we've 3 central defenders on the pitch so might not be missed as much there as some think. It's a bold plan, it could even work, let's hope it does.
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I just like lambert and think he's earned his chance to play every game. Guly and jrod haven't, puncheon is an erratic player with little end product and a bad attitude. Real shame the way things are going. Really think Ramirez, lallana and lee behind lambert would be top quality, but it seems a long way away. Playing Lambert in the same role every game makes us predictable. Rooney doesn't play every game now does he. If nothing's leaked out during the week then this plan could well catch BFS by surprise.
