Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Sorry I thought you were referring to the team duh not Adkins future. Yes I agree Cortese wouldn't be a happy chappy and would have his finger on the trigger. I like Adkins as a person but I feel he has made big mistakes this season, how important do you think it is that we have a manager with premiership experience? Right now it feels as if this is a steep learning curve for Adkins and unfortunately you don't get a honeymoon period in the premiership to adapt to what's needed. listening to his pre-match interview gives you the impression that NA is committed to "attractive football" at all costs. Now whether that's his credo or club policy I just couldn't say. However if he sees entertaining the fans as more important that winning (or even not losing) then I feel for his future in one of the world's toughest leagues. Cos at the end of the day losing is never particularly entertaining, I'd prefer winning ugly to losing pretty, at least when there's relegation as an eventuality at the end of the season. We can play pretty next season, this season is about survival and nothing more.
Saint_Ash Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 3-1to west ham and another shambolic defensive display IMO Aren't you getting bored repeating yourself time and again about how we're sh1t and west ham are going to destroy us?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Hell - I really need us to do a job today and sneak a crafty win - I'm meeting a mate who's a Wetsham supporter for a beer to watch the game and I cannot bear to think about the abuse I will receive if we leak goals.

Can he learn from dire substitution decisions? I'm beginning to think the answers no
scotty Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Narrow defeat in a high scoring game. 4-3, or even 5-4. Hope I'm wrong, obviously, but I cant see us getting anything today.

I'm out in London with 8 of them tonight....I'm contemplating not going out if we lose heavily.
ericofarabia Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 If we could name a Full Strength side I'd fancy our chances. Haven't really been taking any notice of WHU's form so far but see they steam rollered Fulham earlier but haven't played anybody of note except Arsenal which they lost. I think we can expect a bit of a aeriel and physical battering - they have conceded most fouls and have most bookings. Worrying Cole has completed least successful passes in Prem League so should be nailed on for a hatrick today then!! COYS

ThreeSixty Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 BBC Sport's Nabil Hassan: "Arrived at Upton Park. Got a hunch Artur Boruc could make his first appearance for #saintsfc. Could be a shock elsewhere in the team."
SB Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Played FIFA 13 West Ham verses Southampton on a rare day of beer drinking and football watching. Granted FIFA isn’t the most realistic predictor, however we lost 5-2 star man for West Ham was Diame, with saints being Mayuka who came on for the last 15 and scored a screamer. Hope this was useful in someway. Regards SB

for_heaven's_Saint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Fills me with dread that statement as the only real "shock in the team" in my eyes would be dropping Lallana or Lambert. Dropping Lambert worked well at City tbf.

Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Dropping Lambert worked well at City tbf. Yeah.we lost
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Yeah.we lost I know you're just being facetious, but he made more impact coming off the bench than he would have starting IMO. And we're not playing a team as good as City today. We'll see anyway.

I don't think Adkins would be daft enough to drop Lambert.

Ohio Saint Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I've had two weeks of looking forward to this. That means we get hammered.

I don't think Adkins would be daft enough to drop Lambert. Spot on. I think adkins is trying to be too clever in this league and in danger of making himself look Like a mug. I don't think he'd drop Lambert for this as for defending corners etc he's as good as anyone defending.
hypochondriac Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Bet Adkins drops Lambert. Really silly thing to do.
RonManager Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Simon Peach @SimonPeach Tadanari Lee is on the pitch at Upton Park suggesting an early return from injury for the #SaintsFC striker #PAsoccer Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport Anyone fancy Guly to start for #saintsfc today at West Ham? ....I hope my radar is off kilter !!

mack rill Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Fat SAM never that good in the fizzy, Hes a different animal altogether in the prem, stand by to repel boarders, long and physical, a draw will be a good result.
RonManager Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport Waiting for team news confirmation from @officialsaints but my early worry for #saintsfc fans is that Rickie Lambert may be benched Adam Blackmore @bigadamsport Boruc is warming up #saintsfc

Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Drop lambert Is he trying to get the sack?
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Bet Adkins drops Lambert. Really silly thing to do. Perhaps being kept in reserve for a 35 minute impact on West Ham's defence which will no doubt be dimished by at least one red card by then.
RonManager Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Simon Peach @SimonPeach Boruc & Davis the two goalkeepers warming-up for #SaintsFC. Seems as if Gazzaniga is not in the squad #PAsoccer
Thedelldays Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 I know you're just being facetious' date=' but he made more impact coming off the bench than he would have starting IMO. And we're not playing a team as good as City today. We'll see anyway.[/quote'] Should have benched him all the games then Christ.he is our best player, big game player, top scorer, best technique, hero,talisman....you name it, Richie is it for us Bench at west ham when holding the ball up is vital.. His defending of set pieces is also brilliant If we get well beat then Nigel is asking for trouble
shurlock Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Would be a surprise if he was dropped but worth pointing out he had some of his worst performances against West Ham last season. Their CBs dealt comfortably with him.

Roger Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 What about defending against set pieces. Lamberts great at that. And guly? He hasn't done nything. Adkins is making a rod for his own back IMO.

Yoshi ain't great at left back but he's still better than our number 1 left back who we failed to replace last summer, recruiter hang your head in shame.
Window Cleaner Posted 20 October, 2012 Posted 20 October, 2012 Shocking. Makes no sense whatsoever. off course it doesn't, the chairman picked it obviously ;;;or so some will tell you.
