Saints v West Ham build up

Cheese on Toast

Recommended Posts

Can't see us getting anything from the game. If they start the same way they did last season at their place, we'll get beaten comfortably. The sending off -totally justified- changed everything. Just a shame that Sharp's not around to jam home a 90th min winner...

Listening to Morgan and NA's interviews, they're under no doubts what West Ham are about. You can put lipstick on a pig - they remain a hoofball outfit.

you lot need to grow a pair!

going for a 2-1 to saints.

If that mug jay rod plays we are done for but if mayuka plays it could create a diffrient game!

I would also like to see de ridder making a apperance on the bench.

but of course its all up to adkins, if we are winning or drawing and he takes our best players off well then we deserve to lose.

De Ridder on the bench?

Jay Rod a mug?

What a childish and wrong view.

so your going with that jay rod is a good player? and that his bunch of goals hes scored have helped us? god mihu cost swansea 2m and hes banging them in!

plus de ridder a underatted player, he still hasnt had his first game yet and I know he could make a massive impact if he got the chance.

and sorry for speaking my opinion.

poor in the championship?! did his goals and assits count for nothing then?

Im not saying de ridder is a better player in jay rod, its just when he plays hes doesnt look safe with the ball.

I would however like to see lambert and mayuka try a partnership. with mayuka speed and lamberts vision who knows what trouble those two could make

3 Goals and 2 assists is not exactly setting the world on fire.

Apart from the Reading game, what impact did his goals make?

His assists were due to the fact he put one decent cross in about 400 attempts in.

I cant make my mind up about this one for whatever reason......Half of me thinks we will beat them pretty easily 1-3, but then the other half of me can see a 5-0 loss with Carroll tearing us a new one.

With the above in mind, clearly a 2-2 draw

West ham will be physically way too strong for us in every department we have too many lightweights in the team and that coupled with the worst defence in the premiership leads to 4 -1 to westham :( hope I'm wrong

I too hope you are wrong for I fear that such a result would instigate a chain reaction that many would see as extremely unjust and regrettable.

Can't see further than another defeat for us.

sincerely hope I'm wrong though.

they are a well drilled side, whatever people's opinion about fat Sam and the style of football adopted by his teams, they are doing well thus far.

they may not have played some of the more fancied sides, but you can only play what is in front of you.

despite what some might say, despite the odd sporadic encouraging few minutes,we are a poor side.

couple that with poor managerial decisions, both during and prior to kick off,we look likely to struggle,we are very fragile.

West Ham were far more convincing in the run in last season than we ever were.

we got lucky that the fixtures ran out.

2 more games and we would have been in the play offs.

Mr Adkins....make the right calls today please.

At least Vaz Te is out, he can put them away.

A player we ourselves should have made a big effort to sign last January.

He also creates opportunities for others, plus he'd be on Fox's side so it's all a big bonus with him out.

Still think we'll get a "surprise" result myself and let's face it we could certainly do with one, even if it's only our first away point of the season.

clearly not a good start, but we have not only looked better than poor in a few minutes;

Man City / Wigan - I didn't see but by all accounts Man City played well for decent amount of game.

Man Utd -we were better than a top side for 80 odd minutes -

guardian;

Nigel Adkins' side deserved the ovation they were afforded at the final whistle. They had matched United, just as they did against Manchester City on the opening weekend, and on this evidence they should not be discouraged about their hopes of staying in the division. To have no points after playing so stoutly must feel galling in the extreme. Schneiderlin was outstanding

telegraph

Southampton find themselves bottom of the Premier League without having played badly. They just failed to concentrate for fractions of seconds and that is all the time a class act like Van Persie needs.

Arsenal - sh1t

Villa - thought we were very good, particularly Ramirez / Lambert

Even Everton had some decent play - guardian - There was a contest for 25 minutes and Southampton were worthy of their lead as Everton struggled. The second half was a nonevent but for a Ramírez chip over Howard that rolled agonisingly wide. Everton coasted home and Southampton improved defensively, as they must do to avoid a struggle against relegation

Fulham - was some decent stuff.

Not trying to kid anyone that we have been playing well enough, or re-writing history that we are flying just unlucky.

Think you would be more accurate if you said we are playing well and could be decent side, if we can get rid of the odd sporadic minutes when we are so poor we through games away. Arsenal, Man U, Everton - all failing to cope with a team attacking hard for short period.

Interested, did you see Villa game? Was that a poor side.

Lucky last season...not out of the top two for a whole season ffs. Don't change facts to try and make your error of judgement on Adkins appointment look better ;)

I was confident last season that our manager and squad were better than WHU and we would finish above them. I was confident of the same this season..until Carroll signing, if he clicks they will do well, if not reckon still good change will be above them.

If we both stay up, I guarantee our manager would have given us a better season of football!

Adkins has made more right calls than most managers in the top four divisions over the last two years so hopefully will continue!

Pretty evident really, I personally think that if we should lose heavily to West Ham (4-1 as you state) NC would see it as a sign of non-progress compared to a like for like rival and quite simply sack NA. It's just a sort of intuition on my part though.

Sorry I thought you were referring to the team duh not Adkins future. Yes I agree Cortese wouldn't be a happy chappy and would have his finger on the trigger. I like Adkins as a person but I feel he has made big mistakes this season, how important do you think it is that we have a manager with premiership experience? Right now it feels as if this is a steep learning curve for Adkins and unfortunately you don't get a honeymoon period in the premiership to adapt to what's needed.
