Let's not forget that Jos Hooiveld scored both and indeed are ONLY goals against them last season. He'll be buzzing for this one and I reckon he should start, he always does well against WHU! :D

well he has scored 3 this season too.....

Boruc

Clyne Fonte Yoshida Fox

JWP Morgan

Davis

Puncheon Lambert Lallana

Nope, this will be a man's game in midfield and certainly no place for kiddyboys like JWP. Anyone on our books with a pair of boots is preferable. Think we might even see Cork back in some way.

Why does everyone think boruc will play?

Why does every one think Fox is worthy of a place......?????? If we don't know by now that he's not up to it we never will - WHU will destroy him......

He's not, but what other choice do we have?

Is Fox really that bad ? Ok he didnt have a great start, but he played well against Fulham. There were rumours of him having a niggle anyway but he still played as we had noone else. Plus people seem to forget that we scored from his free kick vs Fulham.

He's better than playing Richardson or Butterfield at RB and playing Clyne on the left.

Fox is fine against teams that play narrow or have no pace out wide ie Fulham, Man City, Villa etc. He will be ruined by Lennon vs Spurs and Dyer vs Swansea though.

As above, until Jan he is the only real option.

When I do team sheets on the build-up thread I tend to put out the team I'd like to see rather than what I think Adkins will go with. I'd like to see what Boruc has got to offer sooner rather than later although I suspect Adkins will try him out vs Leeds next week rather than at West Ham.

Fair enough but the question is still valid in the sense that Gazza has done OK and Boruc has not played a competitive game in over 6 months. I would like to see him too but happy to wait to the Leeds game and see him in a slightly less critical fixture.

So will many other left backs. Even players like Evra, Clichy etc will get torn apart by Lennon's pace. Unless we or any other team have Clyne (pace) or similar at left back, Lennon will always look better than he really is. Very direct but not much at the end of it. For our current positon and situation, we could do a lot worse than Danny Fox (i.e Ian Harte (Reading), George McCartney (WHU), Joe Bennett (Villa), Danny Rose (Sunderland)

So Fox will be ruined by fast wingers? What ever happened to doubling up and help from midfield? Bridge was good with Marsden in front, probably less so had he had a proper attacking winger in front not helping out. Fox isn't great, but some help for him would be nice, and he hasn't been much worse than the rest of the defence. With the lack of options there, and for his set pieces, it's worth getting off his back. And for the whole 'not being ridiculously fickle annoying unappreciative fans' thing too.

Some of his positional play and ability to close down to at least attempt to stop a cross really doesn't have anything to do with who is playing in front of him. It really is very basic stuff.

With Chaplow's 'bite' and tenacity he would make an ideal full back IMO. I know he is right footed but Lahm often plays on the "wrong" side and is one of the world best.

IMO if Chappers got a few games under his belt at LB he could yet make a late charge for the Eng team for Rio.

Hopefully it is a good thing that Vaz Te is out injured.

I am ont quite sure he knows, but he seems to pick up possession in dangerous positions and more often than not is getting shots away.

One major concern I have is Nolan. He seems to create space by not actually moving. If you watch him in the penalty box, he takes up a position and then stays there. It seems defenders then leave him as he is not seen as making a run off the back of them into space. Et voila, the defender switches off and he has scored another goal.

The sad thing about it is that Saint Charlie probably does think this. He probably tried playing Chaplow at LB on FIFA 13 and thinks that this translates into real life

Oh right, half-term already is it.

His rating goes from 68 to 65 so not a massive drop and I have scored a couple of belters cutting in from the left and curling in right footed.

But defensively he's crap which is Fox's main problem. We do not need any more midfielders or attackers we need a frigging left back who can defend.

Not to mention that his "bite" attribute is at 86. Fox is only 54.

Fox was good with AL in front. One of the problems with Adam in a more central role IMHO.

That white away shirt really is pointless.

West Ham wear white shorts and socks, so we'd likely have had to change those.

But yes; its an utterly ludicrous idea for an away kit.

No he isn't/wasn't. You might have noticed that Lallana's been playing on the left now since the Man U game. Lallana playing in the middle was a pretty short-lived experiment.

this board will go into meltdown

Which would kinda be pretty normal cos it would mean that West Ham have progressed and we,with a superior expenditure, haven't.

But as I don't think we'll lose I won't have to consider that.

Lawro has weighed in with his prediction: 2-0 to West Ham.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce will have Andy Carroll fully fit and raring to go and he will see this game as being three points for the taking.

After watching Southampton draw with Fulham, I have to say that although the Saints are good going forward, defensively they are poor.

And Nigel Adkins's side will get a thorough examination at Upton Park, so I can only see one winner.

Southampton are pleasing on the eye and their attacking players are good enough to win them a few games. But will they win them enough to keep them in the Premier League? I'm not sure, and I don't see them winning many games 1-0 because, defensively, they are average at best.

Can't argue with that.

Indeed no, perhaps it's something that should have been evident to whomsoever led the summer recruitment campaign though.

Not with his description but he always goes for a 2-0 prediction for the home side. I think we'll score, they aren't the best defensively either.
