Kingsbridge Saint Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 We could really do with a first point on the road. We were far far better than them last season, but with the dolly up fixtures they have had to start the season their confidence will be higher than ours and that could be important. Hope we don't take the lead too early and give Adkins the opportunity to **** things up with his substitutions again.

Saint Garrett Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 Worried about our shaky defence, an a bit lightweight midfield, can see Diame running the show and Carroll scoring.
Saint_Mabes Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 I think Carroll will destroy us to be honest, unless we keep the ball and totally out play them. That's not being negative about us as on our day we can be great, I just really rate Carroll, unlike a lot of people.
pingwing Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 As long as we play football how we want to, keeping it away from West Ham, we can easily come away with a win. They aren't all that and will try to use the all that image to bully us.
David Strover Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 It's like the Brighton and Hove Albion away game last season. A lot of their supporters have a 'chips on their shoulders' about us like the Brighton fans so this would be a great ground to get a win in and shut some of them up....we'll lose 3-0. Can't see anymore than a point at the very best at home to Tottenham Hotspur (although unlikely), nothing at Leeds and nothing at West Bromwich Albion. I hate this league and I'm glad I cancelled my Sky subscription before the season started. For once I made the correct choice.

Lighthouse Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 Bad form - Guaranteed to go on indefinitely. If you draw a game you should probably have won, you will definitely lose the next one. Every defeat is guaranteed to be followed by another defeat in the next game. Good form - Will always come to an end in the next game. When you do lose a game, this is proof you have f**ked up your good form. We have a 2 week break to do our homework and get keey players like Morgan, Gaston and Clyne fit. No reason we can't get a result here, if we can stop them playing it into Diame and Carroll we have a chance. West Ham haven't been anything special yet this year. There is no reason we should be more scared of Carroll and Diame than they are of Lambert, Gaston, Puncheon and Lallana.

The Kraken Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 In my opinion..... Obviously Blimey. Rather defeatist of you TDD. It clearly won't be at all easy, but if we've got all our players back then I think we'll have a real chance. We'll be odds on to lose, and I agree I'd probably tip us for a defeat, but by the same token I wouldn't be too surprised to see us come away with anything if we can hit some form and get the defence sorted out, even if just for one bloody game (although our goals against average came down from 3 goals per game to 2.86 goals per game; result............) Thedelldays Posted 7 October, 2012 Share Posted 7 October, 2012 (edited) Yeah it is defeatist I think adkins is not up to it... Seeing the same mistakes over and over from him and the team And I am not just talking about individual errors We went to West Ham earlier this year and were the better team and took it too them with 10 men (I think) We are just woeful at the back and seem to have lost lots of defensive discipline Edited 7 October, 2012 by Thedelldays

If we do, then great... I will have been wrong I have seen nothing to suggest that... We have win 2 halves of football this season and look absolutely terrible at the back If we were playing us.. I would expect 3 points home or away. There is simply no excuse for the constant openness when it is costing us so dear
Saint Garrett Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 Can't see us getting anything out of this one tbh. They're nothing special, but they're very physical and will use those tactics to bully us out the game. Need to stop supply from Jarvis and have to keep Carroll away from the ball as much as possible. But I expect he's thinking that if he could choose anyone to play next to score against, it would be us as we're dodgy in defence.
Window Cleaner Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 I think we just might get a win or at least a point, not much finesse in West Ham's play, might just suit us down to the ground.

S-Clarke Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 According to the Beeb, Vaz Te is out. Yeah, out for about 12 weeks +. Bad injury to his shoulder. Matt Taylor will come in and did a decent job though. They're a well drilled outfit, well suited to being a mid-table PL team. They're beatable, but we'll need our best players available and we'll need to learn how to defend high balls between now and the 20th.

saintrich Posted 8 October, 2012 Share Posted 8 October, 2012 Need some work on clearances and defending crosses into the box. Gary Neville did a good analysis on Monday Night Football last week, about how West Ham always have a player on the left, right and middle of the box when attacking crosses. Saint_clark Posted 9 October, 2012 Share Posted 9 October, 2012 This would be a massive 3 points for us. Hopefully Clyne will be back and with Fox looking a lot more composed V Fulham we should really aim for a clean sheet.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 Not sure about Clyne against Carol Clarkster. He is a bit like rickey in that he drifts wide every so often so ends up with a header against a full back. There is a chance Clyne might get lost in his ponytail and never seen again. This won't be a popular choice after Sunday but I would play Jos. Jos is pretty bad against skilful quick players but against carol I'd probably our best shot. He'd be well up for that battle as well.
disintegration87 Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 I thought Spiderman plugged the leaks well in central midfield against Fulham which caused us so many problem against Everton. We look dodgy whenever the opposition attacks with an overlap down either wing - with the possibility of balls being crossed into Carrol from deep wide positions this will be a big worry. Let's hope Nigel works on the defence in the next days and hope Clyne returns. going forward I really think we cna cause Wet Ham problems, I like the look of Jrod tbh and think we have enough even without Ramirez. If we can keep a clean sheet I reckon we will win but tbh theres not much chance of that! Would Love for Lee and Cork to be involved. O and they f*** hate Lambert so its a given he will score against them.
tajjuk Posted 10 October, 2012 Share Posted 10 October, 2012 I think we have a better shot away from home. At SMS they will park the bus lump balls into the channel and probably nick it with a set piece, at home they have to be a bot more positive and I think they will give space to the likes of Lallana and Lambert. Their defence isn't great but it hasn't been tested that much, they were shocking against Swansea, beaten comfortably by Arsenal at home, and also lost 4-1 in the league cup to Wigan at home. If we play our game and get at them we will score goals, just have to do the 'dirty' stuff well, get to the second balls, clear those crosses and subdue Carroll.
