Weston Saint Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 Subject to agreed conditions I suspect. I would have thought so and as I said earlier we are likely to be in for a very bumpy and uncertain ride for a few years at least. But at least we have avoided Administration for the very immediate future.

But at least we have avoided Administration for the very immediate future. why the signing off of the accounts proves nothing other than the auditors are happy they give a true and fair view of the results to a point in time, nothing to stop the tax man issuing a writ tomorrow
John D Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 Should be more worried by what we owe the Inland Revenue than those whose debt is secured. Most clubs go into admin because of tax man rather than banks Its always been said that we don't have an issue with the tax man. Don't know why / or if this is valid though
Window Cleaner Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 Its always been said that we don't have an issue with the tax man. Don't know why / or if this is valid though Perhaps that's why we appear so broke compared to many other clubs; We actually pay our bills and rack up an overdraft, easy overdraft not paying the tax man, they're usually quite patient and far less cumbersome than yer average bank executive. I mean take say Norwich's season ticket sales (no innuendo, it's just for the numbers) 20,000 STs at an average of say 420£= 8.4 million. Tax element of that; about 1.47 million. Player salaries, 150K a week, NHS and PAYE element of that about 35K or so I'd say, if you don't pay up on time it sure does boost your cashflow without begging the bank. Amesbury Saint Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 For information, the annual accounts were signed off by the auditors today. They should be filed at Companies House either over the weekend or early next week. I thiught the accounts had to be approved by an AGM before filing with Companies House? stevegrant Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 Were they signed off on a going concern or break up basis though? Thats the question I'm led to believe they were signed off on a going concern basis, which is something of a relief, I guess.
Long Shot Posted 21 November, 2008 Share Posted 21 November, 2008 (edited) Before Liz Coley gets dragged through the ****e and doesnt get called anymore names. ******** To put the record straight longshot is not Liz Coley ******** No I am not Liz Coley. Stan from Fairoak needs a clip around the ear as I told him things in confidence. I did once work at SMS however and I know people who are still there and they say things have never been so depressing. No leadership, no hope, no money, no soul etc etc. Its not been posted on here but if anyone gets the Echo take a look at what Chris Newman has written tonight. If people like Mr Newman feels this way then truly we are in trouble. Edited 22 November, 2008 by Long Shot

Chris' comments can be found here: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/3866773._The_fabled_spirit_of_Southampton_has_disappeared_/ IMHO what he says makes a lot of sense (although personally I'd far rather watch Salisbury than Eastleigh!) John B Posted 23 November, 2008 Share Posted 23 November, 2008 (edited) So he has taken LM's picture down - would have thought he had more urgent things to attend to. LAWRIE McMENEMY, the only Southampton manager ever to win a major trophy, has had his picture removed from the boardroom at St Mary's. McMenemy is persona non grata with the regime of Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde because of his previous support for rival factions at a club which has for years operated by the laws of the playground. The new picture is of a train, and the next stop for Southampton could be League One and financial meltdown. The comment about the playground is very interesting Why cant the shareholders be more responsible Edited 23 November, 2008 by John B

This appears in the regular column by Charles Sale who has been described on here as "Lowes Mouthpiece". This article doesn`t show Rupes in a good light. Window Cleaner Posted 23 November, 2008 Share Posted 23 November, 2008 So he has taken LM's picture down - would have thought he had more urgent things to attend to. Perhaps there's a reason that we haven't found out about yet. Seems a bit much really but there could be symbolism involved I suppose. Accounts might be out tomorrow, we'll have to look at the "cost of sales other than salary mass".Could tell us a lot.

saint lard Posted 8 December, 2008 Share Posted 8 December, 2008 (edited) Jump? I cannot confirm or deny this rumour as the situation is very fluid, that was always my favourite "get outs". My sources ,who i have just got of the telephone too, have stated something will happen, maybe friday, unfortunatley i will be attending a major plumbing job on the Shetland Isles,so wont have a access to a computer.....for about 3 years. I do not claim to be ITK,but..... But i will change my Avatar to drop a subtle hint too you all,let me just pick a countrys flag at random and see if you can guess the connection. And that my friends was an abridged version of a "takeover thread" that just ran and ran and ran.......god i miss 'em Edited 8 December, 2008 by saint lard
