ericofarabia Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 Yes, let's rival such amazing places as Weston Super Mare, Tamworth and Castleford. ....... and Dubai. Didn't Eastleigh used to have one at Fleming Park? well not exactly a ski dome but a ski mat on a slope about 10 feet long
Lighthouse Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 I never quite understand why they never build these things on an actual hill rather than building a structure 500ft up in the air.

The Kraken Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 I never quite understand why they never build these things on an actual hill rather than building a structure 500ft up in the air. That's what they've done at Hemel Hempstead ; they used to have a dry slope but converted it into a fridge. Would be great for Southampton to have one, being as its a 2 hour drive to the nearest one. Alas our backwards thinking planners will do the least they can to ensure it happens.

Sheaf Saint Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 Castleford X-scape kicks it's arse. You think? I've been to both and I thought Chill Factor was better.
Wurzel Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 Wasn't there serious talk of one of these going on the site of the Town Depot on town side of Itchen Bridge? Or was that another Echo pipe dream story?
Lighthouse Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 Maybe it will be part of Saints Village, built on the current cement works between the 30 storey Wetherspoons and the petting zoo.
The Kraken Posted 5 October, 2012 Share Posted 5 October, 2012 Wasn't there serious talk of one of these going on the site of the Town Depot on town side of Itchen Bridge? Or was that another Echo pipe dream story? It would never have worked;the logical way to get there from the motorway (or even from town) would have had traffic coming down Britannia Road; with Saints games every other Saturday (presumably a snow-dome's busiest day) it would be a traffic nightmare. You can't really expect people to park in town and carry their skis, boots and ski gear for a 15-20 minute walk!
Saint Luke Posted 12 October, 2012 Share Posted 12 October, 2012 Milton Keynes one is good, although I only went toboganning so can't speak for the ski experience. Hemel Hemsptead also has one - pretty crappy to look at on the outside though.
