Hatch Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 What's he up to these days? Just met someone though work with the same name, which made me think about it. In my Top 3 favourite SFC players of all time, along with Williams and Moran.
The Cat Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 He was a postman a while back. Turned up to deliver the mail at one place I worked about 10 years ago which me and my Saints supporting boss found pretty amusing. Aside from that he was a regular fixture in the crowd at the Rose Bowl with a pint in his hand. Haven't seen him for a good few years though.
beatlesaint Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 Last time I saw him was at the AGM when the two Dutch blokes were in charge. He was sat just in front of me and asked a very sensible question of them about tactics. After a long meandering answer which made no sense at all he turned round to my mate and I and said "he didnt answer my bloody question did he ?" to which I replied "I dont think he understood it Mark !! "
Saint Craig Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 Not completely sure what he's dabbling in at this moment in time but he's a good friend of my boss and has done numerous PA's for our company with a lengthy Q+A (His funniest stories involve Frank Worthington in digs). Pops in occasionally when he's in the area but can't recall seeing him at all this year. We had a company tradeshow last year and Denno ended up watching Champions League with most us blokes and giving his expert analysis.

" I remember that - I was listening via radio and on that one question Poortvliet was absolutely indecipherable.
Miltonroader07 Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 Def one of my fave players of all time, last time I saw him was at Weston s Mare when he was with Eastleigh, rumour has it he likes the booze a bit
Pedro Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 Think he still lives in Chandlers Ford and doing something on match days for Birmingham (or he was)
kpturner Posted 4 October, 2012 Posted 4 October, 2012 He is still The Saint radio station with his brother, Stewart Dennis. Nobody told them it went off air a few years ago.
fromthedell Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 saw him last week shopping in morrisons in totton with a oldish lady maybe his mum
Junior Mullet Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 Played golf with him once - a very very nice guy. His banana golf shot is legendary.
SO5 4BW Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 Saw him at Eastleigh a couple of years ago with Adrian Aymes, the old Hampshire wicket keeper. Was Mark Dennis the most underated Saints player? Speak to fans of other clubs and they think he was just an absolute nutjob - but in my opinion he had it all as a left back, could run, pass, tackle, cross like a winger... Every talent apart from being able to keep his mouth shut
Dimond Geezer Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 The best left back never to be capped for England, an absolute legend of a player IMHO. Wasn't he supposed to post on here, cunningly calling himself "Leftback"?
david in sweden Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 Was Mark Dennis the most underated Saints player? Every talent apart from being able to keep his mouth shut think that about sums him up. He was that era's Joey Barton, but Lawrie Mac seemed to be able to keep him on the rails (well - most of the time). On his day, he was an absolute class defender and a good attacker..but .later on... he reverted-to-type and looked like a " warm-up " act for David Prutton.
RonManager Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 Whenever I hear his name that photo of the horrendous gash in his thigh (I forget where and when), appears in my head!
beatlesaint Posted 5 October, 2012 Posted 5 October, 2012 Whenever I hear his name that photo of the horrendous gash in his thigh (I forget where and when), appears in my head! Old Trafford I believe, not sure of the year tho. Yeah I think it needed a skin graft and was a very serious injury.
whelk Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 he is with me now eating crumpets. Let me know if you have any specific questions for him.
jampot Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 Anyone remember the game against Villa, got sent off clashing with M Keown
david in sweden Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 he is with me now eating crumpets. Let me know if you have any specific questions for him. well if he's still on his second cup of tea ? ...would be fun to hear about who were the players he admired most in the Saints side of his era..and what was it like playing in front of Peter Shilton.and what was Shilts like as a person (we all know about his playing record?
Stud mark of doom Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 well if he's still on his second cup of tea ? ...would be fun to hear about who were the players he admired most in the Saints side of his era..and what was it like playing in front of Peter Shilton.and what was Shilts like as a person (we all know about his playing record? If I remember, Shilts would contestant lay be bellowing either "away", "tight" or "time" in the defenders ears, on continuous loop.
theyin Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 I thought he was great. Loved it that fans of other clubs hated him.
ericb Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 He was a proper legend but players like him, Jimmy Case and OOOOOH Terry Hurlock wouldn't last a minute in todays game sadly
Dimond Geezer Posted 6 October, 2012 Posted 6 October, 2012 Whenever I hear his name that photo of the horrendous gash in his thigh (I forget where and when), appears in my head! I think he suffered a dead leg that wouldn't come round, IIRC the gash was a result of surgery, I think it went the entire length of his thigh.
