Hate to say it but big sam does get his teams looking solid and organised, West Ham should easily enough stay up this year. QPR on the other hand look dreadfull... Cant wait to play them!

According to a lot on here he's a sh*t manager without a clue.thats what we were told all of last season.

What an awful game. Long ball, late tackles and fouls all over the place. Game just didnt flow whatsoever.....but the result says West Ham 3 points.

Pretty scruffy game but West Ham look good for a pretty safe mid table finish. When Carroll gets going he'll get plenty of goals from Jarvis crosses!

Not that impressive really considering the opposition they've faced! I'd like to think we are more than capable of getting a similar total from those fixtures!

What are you about? That is almost 2 points a game, no easy games the premier league, to stay up by beating the teams around you and winning the games you should win, which they are doing. Would you rather be in their position or ours?

It's a decent return but look at who they've played. Fulham, Villa and Sunderland at home. QPR, Norwich and Swansea away.

You couldn't ask for 6 easier fixtures than that.

Fulham, Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea all finished midtable last season and Villa and QPR will probably be relegation rivals, you stay up by getting results in games like these, which they are doing.

Very impressive, from a side that many on here said would get relegated, were the worst team in the division, and Sam Allardyce was a clueless manager.

8 yellow cards for West Ham though :lol:

It really isn't that impressive from the fixtures they've had. Yes good, not very impressive though.

What would you rather...playing horrendous football like west ham but staying up, or playing good football and attacking teams and seeing some cracking games but going down? For the money a ST costs I think I'd rather watch good football every week and go down than watch that dross

I'd play however you have to play to stay up. Otherwise, what's the point?

If we were to go down... The football will be hoffific in the process

Then last time we went down was like pulling teeth..

We were more direct under wgs and I thoroughly loved his time here

They arent dross though are they. I must confess I've only seen fleeting glimpses of them this season but last season they played some really good football at times, at other times they were direct, just like we were.

Like we never pump or loft the long ball to the back stick for Lambert to barge his was to the ball.....Never!

If Saints have that run against those teams then I'd certainly say it was a very impressive set of results. Personally I consider 3 wins and 2 draws from any 6 teams in the Premier League is very impressive for a newly promoted team.

Exactly no one goes down and has played good football so far we have been good going forward but awful in defence.

Winning away at a relegation rivals and beating midtable sides from last season at home are very good results.

I think we're better than West Ham. Despite this they're probably more effective at the moment. Lumping long balls in and feeding off the scraps. They've also got the strength in the middle to grind out results and break up play. Still wouldn't be surprised if they're down there come the end of the season

So you can be better, but less effective, yes?

We'll find out very soon how we match up against them.

As much as they may get criticised for the way they play, Sam has got them set up brilliantly, and they're tough to beat (as evidenced by their keeping three clean sheets so far). And if Andy Carroll is back on form by the time we play them he'll run riot against Fonte or Yoshi; wouldn't be surprised of Hooiveld gets a game to combat the aerial challenge.

Norwich have made a dreadful start to the season. Swansea can't score and were comfortably beaten by Villa, Stoke and Everton (at home unlike us). QPR and Villa have looked pretty poor to me aswell. Sunderland have been grinding out points but haven't been anything special. Fulham have always been suspect away from home and didn't turn up to Upton Park.

Yes, they are good results. If we had those results from those fixtures I'd be happy. However I wouldn't be so sure of staying up just because we'd won 3 of the easiest fixtures of the season.

Well... Lets see how we get on against that lot shall we?

We could lose all 6 of them, that would only dictate how good we are. If we go to Loftus Rd and get spanked 8-0 it doesn't make West Ham's performance tonight any better.

All I'm saying is our easiest fixture so far has probably been their second hardest (Villa at home) after Swansea. Making comparisons between Saints/Wham/Adkins/BFS/Cortese/Geoff Hurst/Jermaine Wright/whatever is pointless.

not sh1t, just nothing special, as said last season..we will finish above them.

Think he did the job last year - but with players he had, and then signings - he was lucky to scrape through and keep his job. signing numerous "star forwards" saying how wouldn't be interested in Sharp as has Maynard (who??) then saying all his squad was missing was Lambert - a league 1 £1m forward!

No, don't rate him, didn't 12 months ago and he looks worse year later.

NA any day please.

theirs. I backed big Sam, even if I don't like him. Thought he did a good job there to get them up (that's what was required and that's what he achieved under tremendous pressure) even if the style of football, if what we saw at SMS was anything to go by, was ****ing terrible and everything Sam claims he doesn't serve up. I also rate Poyet.
