Born In The 80s Posted 29 September, 2012 Posted 29 September, 2012 The huge positive from the opening few games of this season is that we have players in the squad who can score goals. We have 3 genuine match winners in Lallana, Lambert and Ramirez. We all know that defensively we need to be more compact, but we have the attacking to game to match the vast majority of teams in this division. I have faith that defensively we will improve as the season goes on.

Saints are not, we've just been outplayed by 4 better teams and put in a naive display against Wigan. ANY other league in Europe and Everton would be in the Champions League more often than not.

Before the start of the season I thought we would struggle mainly because the league looked so much stronger this year, but there are around half a dozen other teams who already look like they will be spending most of their time around the relegation zone. If we can beat most of them home and away I think we should be ok.

I think we are capable of scoring against pretty much any team in this league and that is good. However, our defence lacks.

Nigel's task until then is to keep the squad believing in the way that they are playing and to stop making silly mistakes. Thankfully, I have not seen heads drop and can honestly see us getting stronger as the season goes on.

david in sweden Posted 3 October, 2012 Posted 3 October, 2012 given the fact that we have a surplus (though not unecessarily so) ....of strikers and midfielders........getting the goalie situation settled and buying in extra defenders is the main priority. Survival will follow, as long as we keep scoring..and keep a low GD.
