We are getting murdered. :(

As expected, apart from first 20 minutes which was a shock, can't see why anyone is surprised. We were going to struggle before we lost Morgan, Everton are very very good this season (Leeds notwithstanding) and we have set up wrong for them, with no height in the middle and our best (in terms of pace) full back on the wrong side, no disrespect to Frazer who I like). Should have played Jos in the middle and Yosh as LB. But as I said we are buggered without Spiderman (and Cork) anyway.

This could be whatever score Everton want, let's be honest. Depressing, I hoped we'd give a decent account of ourselves today.

Still time i guess, but the damage is being done.

Well everyone was saying how happy they were to have 2 up front again before the match.

Jesus 4-4-2? Really? Guess NA felt his hand was forced by the CM injuries but not happy. Moan all you like about the defence but we have too many similar players in CM and none who can take a game by the scruff of the neck.

we seem so stretched every time they pick up the ball

Because we're playing with no wide men. Meaning 1 of the CM's has to pull wide leaving 2 getting overrun. Too simple for NA to see by the look of it.

and really, to change from the team that started the 2nd half last weekend is stupid....morgan, granted

I think alot of it is to compensate for the loss of Morgan, I've not really got an issue with the selection. It would be the same whoever we play, as we're too naive. We're turning into the whipping boys of the league.

But why drop Puncheon?

So you think J-Rod up front instead of Punch is the reason we are losing 3-1 (Morgan aside)?

just insane...our wide players are too flair players who are going looking for the ball

its stuff like this that will get adkins the chop....just ridiculous

this is not the NPC when we can give up certain areas of the pitch because we are so dominant in others...ffs

We should have played Fonte as a defensive CM and Jos at the back. Without Cork/Morgan we have no-one in front of the back 4. I thought Davis was better than this as well, he should have the experience to stay deeper

the whole set up of the team......our wide players are so narrow that it is leaving the full back so exposed....we are hardly keeping the ball up top either...which punch can do more than others....

it worked so bloody well 2nd half last week....and this clearly is not

It's amazing how often it swaps between "we are screwed without Yoshida/Morgan/Ramirez/Lallana/Lambert".

Has anyone really said this season we are screwed without Yoshida, Ramirez, Lallana or Lambert (maybe we would be but we haven't really had that opportunity). But anyone who thinks we can do without our most influential player would be crazy.

It seems once we let one goal in we just totally crumble. Happened against Arsenal, Man Utd (their 2 late goals) and now Everton. We have no strength at this forum. No leadership. Just lambs to the slaughter.. doesn't matter how good we are in the pre-match thread.

Agree. We do seem to collapse rather easily in here...

Adkins cannot be blind enough not to change this? If we stay as we are it'll be 6 or 7

How do we change it though...?

Bearing in mind Puncheon is nursing a knock, or has been.

Still hate Zonal marking.

I have to say that I think this is a major part of us conceding so many goals, not just the personnel. However after having spent all pre-season training on it, it isn't going to change.

As soon as Everton equalised it we just capitulated and started to embarrass ourselves. Lallana needs to give Clyne some support, Coleman and Mirallas are often 2 on 1 with Clyne and we've paid for it.

Hopefully we can try to pass it 2nd half, far to many hopeless long balls and aimless early crosses.

Zonal marking is such a weird one. All I've ever seen it do is equate to more goals conceded by anyone who ever tries it.

Why even bother...? Weird setup.

You can't blame the defence.. It's the midfield in front of them... playing so narrow, committing themselves when they shouldn't, positionally naive... Everton are just moving the ball into the spaces that we're not. Arrrrgh, brutal league. Could be a lot easier if you do the simple things right though...

hehe indeed. We all hope at the start for something special and end up being easily defeated as the goals fly in against :)

Adkins can sort this out, but it really needs JWP and Davis to do their jobs properly, we're stuck punting it from our own half to their box because there's just no one in the middle.

Can't win games playing like the Scottish ruby team
