Take a look at our projected formation versus Everton;

Martin Keown - ITK or Muppet Pundit? Does he honestly get paid for this?

what about his team selection! - no way will KD play ...and what happened to Adam Lallana ..Martin ?

why do people get so offended when comparing lambert to Holt..

holt was brilliant for norwich last season..and if lambert does equally as good I will be ecstatic

I don't think it's offence, more like it's the same old comparison peddled out by all the pundits. It's almost like if one says it, the others follow suit, surely it wouldn't hurt for one of them to have an original thought.

Maybe it's because there are a lot of similarities, no?

Are you saying Holt does not have skill?

Not anywhere near the level of Ricky - I have the dubious delight of living close to Norwich and even the wurzels agree that his control and distribution don't come close. On the 'big, old fashioned centre-forward' front they're comparable but RL has much more to his game.

As Lawreson highlighted on MOTD last Saturday, but he's a c*nt who knows f*ck as well isn't he?

how hasn't he..some of the goals he scored last season needed incredible skill....

your summing of holt is equally as lazy as the article itself

It is easy for the so-called pundits to bracket Holt and Lambert together, just as it is inevitable that the two clubs are bracketed together because we both achieved back to back promotions to get to the Premiership. Holt surprised the pundits because they didn't believe that a striker from the lower divisions could score in the Premiership. Lambert is also making them sit up and take notice, even after so few games, where he is joint top striker.

But when we were at the same level as Norwich and played them, we more often than not beat them and Lambert will produce more goals this season than Holt too, as he is the better player and we will finish above Norwich.

Because it's predictable, lazy and based purely on 2 senior strikers getting a first shot at the top flight rather than watching them closely. I've no problem with any opinion from someone that's actually watched them play regularly.

You disagree that they are similar then?

Just as an aside,

Can someone tell me where the Metalwork is, as Everton have hit it 6 times this season Spurs 4 and us 2.

Is it rattled the stadium structure that holds up the roof or the number of players doing Metalwork in evening classes in preparation for life after Football?

Yes I know it's some pedantic whatsit talking about the goalposts which have been metal for years, when you look at our line up then read that little stat you just know that the person collating that knows chuff all about football.

Which perceptive bit of skill analysis did I miss?

And yours?

For the record I'm not offended by comparisons but as I said in my 'deep analysis' Lambert has better touch and a better eye for a pass than Holt...Holt scored a couple of beauties last year but his overall contribution to Norwich's play is nowhere near as as comprehensive as Lambert's is to ours because he lacks the qualities above..

Which was nicely summed up by that other clueless c*nt we love to have a pop at, Mark Lawreson on MOTD last week.

Keown probably didn't do the line ups anyway, some junior hack or work experience kid in the office would have been given that job.

As for Lambert/Holt similarities they are both good in the air and slow, but that's it. Lambert plays wider, had better touch, vision, technique and passing ability. You could just as easily draw a comparison between Lambert and Teddy Sheringham, but no one does.

The comparisons between Lambert and Holt are incredibly close in certain areas and something that is always going to be commented upon. When was the last time in the Premier that you had an old striker who came through from League 1 to the Premier in consecutive season, scoring record goals for fun along the way. To then end up with two in the Premier with nigh on identical records separated by a season is truly exceptional. Everyone is going to note this similarity and comment upon such. Not to would be the unusual!

Holt has a bit more pace than Ricky and most importantly can generate his own chances. Ricky has really improved mentally this season and the manner in which he has scored this season has a lot to do with the thought he is putting into his game. Ricky normally scores about a goal a season where he creates the opening himself, something he has already done. Ricky just seems more polished this season and the comparison to Sheringham is even more warranted. There are differences in their play but ask any Premier fan to pick two strikers out that came from the same pod and you would have your overwhelming favourites.
