JackanorySFC Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Just drove past Millbronx Towers and see the roof has been painted red & white. Didn't notice it before today, is it official or did someone have a few (dozen) spare tines of red & white dulux? Personally think it looks quality, hopefully someone'll do the same with Redbridge Towers - Good advert as you come into the City from the West. The people of Thornhill need to up their game and get busy to upgrade the view on the way in from the East!

Badvoc Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Back in the day, just prior to 2001, I proposed to Rupes that he petition Soton CC to paint those gas towers in Northam red & white, instead of them remaining as a pair of rusty old hulks...I think they would have looked smart and acted like a beacon leading the masses to St Marys. Never happened though :-(

Never happened though :-( Isn't it because they're listed structures or something like that and any change has to go before the old fuddy duddies at the National Heritage Council or whatever? When I lived in Sturminster Newton they gave me a bolloaking for painting my front door without asking them, SN being a heritage village because Hardy passed a few weeks of his life there.
Cheese on Toast Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 (edited) Once when I went to a match, my friend though one of these towers was the stadium Edited 28 September, 2012 by Cheese on Toast
sfcuk fan Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Any pictures for those of us that don't live in Southampton ? .
Turkish Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Why are they using the old colours for the kit we used to play in? Should really have been all red with a very thin white pinstripe.
JackanorySFC Posted 29 September, 2012 Author Posted 29 September, 2012 http://www.southampton.gov.uk/news-events/pressoffice/NewsItem.asp?ID=4386 Cheers! Up the Towers (feint Wire ref there;))!
