Whilst I am politically firmly behind the notion of behind able to say what you want, and what you believe in, without fear of reprisals, I must say that, as someone who personally and subjectively finds the BNP abhorrent and vile, I am laughing my arse off.

 

This is a party which has continuously made requests based on the Freedom of Information Act, yet (with the exception of the leadership) don't have the balls to stand up and declare "I am a member of the British Nationalist Party and I'm proud of it" and is now shuddering from an ill-executed (and easily preventable) "leak".

 

I don't care what the reprisals might be, if you really had the conviction of your beliefs, you'd sound off from the rooftops.

There are many groups who crave privacy not only the BNP and the paeds

Indeed, anybody who may be involved in a group, party or club which could indulge in dubious or nefarious practices will crave privacy. Could it be because they support these groups practices or because they actually feel ashamed? Both types of regime are totalitarian, supress freedom, excercise fear and intimidation to control their populations. Are the people of North Korea really happy?

Surely most of the hatred on this thread directed at the BNP is because of the racism. I haven't really given the communist party a moments thought. Or any other party for that matter.

I haven't really noticed any support for communism on this board TBH. Some left-wing views are certainly spouted (by me amongst others) but I'd never, in a million years, promote communist views.

 

The problem is that the lazy response is to call people with right-wing views 'fascist' and people with left-wing views 'communist'. Neither are necessarily true. There is a more middle ground with muted hues.

I'd also hasten to add that many would consider extreme left wing ideals to be prefereable to extreme right ideals - but I'd be the first to admit that extremism of any form always manifests itself in a negative way.

 

I've said on here repeatedly that whle my ideals - a fair world, freedom etc etc - are in line with something decidedly left of centre, in pragmatic terms, my views are more centre left than extreme, and occasionally nip over the border depending on the subject. Anyone who doesn't realise that political, social and economic approaches cannot be solved with one blanket appraoch and set of immovable ideas knows nothing about any of it.

 

I don't think anyone here advocates communism as it has existed in the world.

They have historically prospered in times of crisis -ie interwar or when mainstream parties lurch to the left or right from the centre ground. Thatcher killed the NF in the 80s and they had to rebuild from the football terraces because Thatcher was very much a neo-Con and they had no political space to occupy. Likewise, although New Labour didn't lurch to the Left, their rise concided with a big drop in activity and visibility from Far Left Extremist and Anarchist groups.

CF, you should know a little better than to think all Muslims take the Qu'uran as inerrrant. Many moderate Muslims take interpret it rather differently. Some argue the bible tells all Christians that being gay is a mortal sin, that we should kill people who withdraw before ejaculation, but I'm pretty certain this isn't held against them. Yuo're brighter than making statements like the above. No-one is really persecuting them. They're free to their racist, ignorant beliefs. I'm entitled, in my turn, to think they are mostly a bunch of ignorant pathetic idiots with disgusting views, and am allowed to have a relatively harmless laugh at them. Many of them, however, would do a lot worse to people they disagree with, so I don't feel too bad about it.
