Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Pretty much as the title says, who would YOU pick to play in goal against Everton on Saturday? Personally, I think Gazza has earnt the right to start but I really don't think it'll be long before Boruc takes over. Also, how the hell do I start a poll? I've read the FAQ and I don't seem to have a "'Yes, post a poll with this thread' checkbox at the bottom of the page"...
trousers Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Who I think should be in goal: Boruc Who I think will be in goal: Gazza
SNSUN Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I think only Mods can start polls. Gazza hasn't done anything wrong. Stick with him. Boruc will get his time eventually.
Nigel=God-Poyet=Sod Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I would play Boruc but I'm pretty sure Nigel will play Gazzaniga.
Mowgli Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 It would be insane to play Boruc who has not played any games since April and only trained for a few days. It's between Gazza and Kelvin as I see it. Kelvin has had more to do than Gazza and has had more opportunity to make mistakes, but having put faith in Gazza last week I think Nigel is obliged to stick with him
sandwichsaint Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Who would I play in goal? Gazza on Saturday with KD on the bench; I'd be looking for Boruc to come in probably for the West Ham game but for Fulham would be a bonus.
Saint J 77 Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Does Boruc have international clearance to play yet?
Norm Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 (edited) Should be, The Mad Pole (if fit and cleared to play) Will be, Gazza Edited 27 September, 2012 by Norm poor spelling
Badger Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I think it will be Gazzaniga. Seeing the NA interview he seems to hedge the question "is Boruc fit ?" , just saying he has had a good weeks training. May of course be a smokescreen, but I think he'll persevere with PG.
slickmick Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Think our defence will be far more stretched for this one and who ever is in goal is going to be a lot busier than the last two games. I dont think Gazza is good or ready enough yet. For me I'd like to see Boruc if fit, but wont be to upset to see Davis.
trousers Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/artur-hopes-to-be-lucky-charm-394643.aspx Boruc has already trained for the first time with his new teammates, but he admits that having not featured for a club since the end of last season that he is some way short on where he wants to be fitness wise. “It’s been quite heavy this week to be honest, but I haven’t done much in the past couple of weeks which is why I feel that way and hopefully it’s going to be OK in the next few weeks,” he explained.
Gingeletiss Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Who I think should be in goal: Boruc Who I think will be in goal: Gazza This....as per the thread title.
pingwing Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Just Gazza, look alright the last 2 games and needs the game time to avoid another Bart. Boruc will provide proper competition but not until he is fit, an unfit keeper will be about as useful as kelvin... (or is that too soon to joke about)
Cheese on Toast Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I think we'll call back fourpast from his loan to start, and we'll have Cropper on the bench
Cheese on Toast Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I'll go with Nige's choice... i hope the fence doesnt hurt your arse
SaintBobby Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I voted Boruc, but hadn't appreciated he has not played since April. So, I guess I'd go for Gazzanigga.
Ziggy Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I thought Gazza looked fine last Saturday so I would play him.
stu0x Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Gazza, Davis, Boruc, in that order. And then Boruc will move up as the weeks go by.
Cheese on Toast Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I thought Gazza looked fine last Saturday so I would play him. But is 'fine' the correct word to describe your number 1 keeper?!
ART Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Dropping Gazza now in favor of either Kelvin or Boroc would have the same effect on Gazza as previously when Bartosz was dropped after he'd had a decent run. We lost a potentially good goalkeeper by a move that should not be repeated.

That's nonsense, humans react differentllt depending on their psyche... but Gazza will be in goal simply becoz Borus is not quite ready.. Borus will be No 1 very shortly, unless he cracks up.

We lost a potentially good goalkeeper by a move that should not be repeated. Absolutely this - Bart's confidence was completely destroyed by being No2 at this club for too long, he really is a good keeper as he is proving now at Notts County. KD was No1 for too long - we should give Gazza an extended run in the first team, but if he really f*cks up, we have Boruc as back-up. I know Kelvin has been a really good and loyal servant to the club (blah blah) but we can't keep on being sentimental, the hard practicalities of the situation should take preference.
Trader Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Davis first, Gazza to suspect for me. Davis has been suspect since he's been here IMO. I know, I know, lovely bloke, loyal, turned down West Ham, club captain etc etc. But he's just not a very good goalkeeper, especially in th PL. Gazza, on the other hand, has genuine potential, and we should give him a chance. Sure, he's going to make the occasional mistake, but what 20-yesr old doesn't?

Really...'Not a very good keeper'...Unbelievable. Have you seen the last 4 years?
Saintandy666 Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Gazzaniga, but I trust Nigel's decision. As our coach, and an ex-goalkeeper he has the experience.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Davis doesn't come into it for me. It's Gazzanigga or Boruc.
scotty Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 I'm not voting on this one. Whoever Nigel thinks is the best option is fine with me.
Alain Perrin Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Should and will are two different things. Gazza will be in goal (although I think he - at the moment - has as many issues with his game as Davis does). He didn't inspire confidence in me on Tuesday night and I fear against a far more clinical side his rooted to the line-ness might be an issue. Boruc will be the long term choice but fitness appears to be an issue.
Barry the Badger Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 But he's just not a very good goalkeeper. You are talking rubbish. Total rubbish.
Aura Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Davis first, Gazza to suspect for me. have you been watching any of our prem games or still living in the past...?
Scudamore Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 i hope the fence doesnt hurt your arse Shouldn't do...as long as nobody rattles it. The fence that is...not my arse.
Saint Martini Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 I voted Gazza. He started the last two matches and even though Boruc will be our first goallie in time I can't see him playing an away match in the PL without him having played any training/reserve matches. He'll play with the reserves 1 or 2 times and if he isn't completely **** there he'll get the starting job.
Ziggy Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 But is 'fine' the correct word to describe your number 1 keeper?! Yes.
slickmick Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 (edited) in reply to Aura. Seen enough to form an opinion. Davis has had his time, but Gazza fills me with no confidence either, he's one for the future. But until Boruc is match fit I would pick Kelvin for this one. Edited 28 September, 2012 by slickmick
