Jillyanne Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Anyone know which pub/s to use or will it be a case of being escorted to the ground from the train!
bungle Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Anyone know which pub/s to use or will it be a case of being escorted to the ground from the train! lolz. Bloody long walk that'd be.
bungle Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Leaving Bath at 0913, get to Reading at 1010. Will start in Three Guineas (hopefully watching RL World Cup Final) and then move on from there.
Jillyanne Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 lolz. Bloody long walk that'd be. Having never been there, you could be more helpful.
SaintMilesie Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Having never been there, you could be more helpful. Hi the main away pub is the Three Guinness it is outside the railway station but I rekon it will be packed out,or take a 5 min walk into town to O'Neils or there is a Wetherspoons called Monks Retreat on Friar Street.
bungle Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Having never been there, you could be more helpful. The ground is 3 miles from the train station.
Appy Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 (edited) 10:04 from Andover. Get in at 11, first beer at 11:05. Edited 19 November, 2008 by Appy
Andy_Porter Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 Going to get the 10.14 train I think, there are 4 of us so we're just going to do the 4 for 2 deal hopefully. Anyone know how much that works out to for Reading and if they do the 4 for 2 on the day? Cheers
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 19 November, 2008 Posted 19 November, 2008 I'm anticipating that there will be a OTT police presence again. Luckily, when my ticket is checked, it will say "Colchester"

Cheers 4 for 2 deals are avaialbe on the day, however as Lady Saint states above they are not usable on cross country trains. So you need to use SW Trains up to Basingstoke and change there for locals Basingstoke trains 2 an hour going up (takes just under 30mins) up if you are using that particular deal.

Hunty Posted 20 November, 2008 Posted 20 November, 2008 On the 0915 train, just booked it, arriving at 1004! An hour earlier than planned, but using the http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com site saved me a bit, 1 adult + 2 kids for £20, two single journeys instead of a return.

Hunty Posted 20 November, 2008 Posted 20 November, 2008 Is a good pub, and buses leave from right outside the door if I remember rightly?
bungle Posted 20 November, 2008 Posted 20 November, 2008 Is a good pub, and buses leave from right outside the door if I remember rightly? Yup, although I will go off for a wander around town - don't want to spend 4.5 hours in the same place!

Neil Posted 21 November, 2008 Posted 21 November, 2008 Getting to Reading at 12.00, then will be getting seriously on it (if the pubs aren't already full with Saints!).
bungle Posted 24 November, 2008 Posted 24 November, 2008 It's not the pub, the dodgy staff are the problem We got kicked out as one of our party called the barman a "f*cking jobsworth"!
SaintMilesie Posted 24 November, 2008 Posted 24 November, 2008 Going to get the 10.14 train I think, there are 4 of us so we're just going to do the 4 for 2 deal hopefully. Anyone know how much that works out to for Reading and if they do the 4 for 2 on the day? Cheers Got the 11.15 up, anyone else those skates who tried to board the train at Soton Airport Parkway, the train was packed with saints fans. What planet are they on.
Hunty Posted 24 November, 2008 Posted 24 November, 2008 We got kicked out as one of our party called the barman a "f*cking jobsworth"! Wahay! I was told to leave after calling the barman a pr*ck for letting me stand waiting with my son for 2 minutes before he said no kids allowed!
bungle Posted 24 November, 2008 Posted 24 November, 2008 Wahay! I was told to leave after calling the barman a pr*ck for letting me stand waiting with my son for 2 minutes before he said no kids allowed! Ah. Same reason then. One of our party had kids, and we went to the bar and the barman said we couldn't order drinks until we'd all sat down and ordered food, even though they'd found a table for the kids (right in the corner) and the kids were reading the menu. Probably the same idiot.
