Fitzhugh Fella Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 This draw is perfect for the likes of Chaplow, Guly, Cork Seaborne etc etc to prove they are good enough to be given a chance in the Premiership
Ken Tone Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 The early season home game against Leeds when we walked all over them and their arrogant, deeply unpleasant, fans started singing 'what the **** is going on?' is still a sweet memory. CB Fry Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 We should be going for it. I'd take the cup over four or five league places, as long as we stay up. Winning a cup is actually exciting. Finishing, say, eleventh, isn't.

Let's see what happens in the league games and if any injuries occur but this could be a great opportunity for the team/squad to succeed.

yorkie Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 bloody long trip for a midweek game. How much is Bates charging Leeds fans these days. I recall the ticket prices being on the expensive side last time round. Elland Road evening cups games are usually pretty decent affairs mind. See no reason why we should rest too many. Let's try and win this cup. Silverware is what it is all about. In answer to your question he charged £20 for Everton game - and Everton took 5,000 fans...we'll be lucky to take 500! See you there? This Charming Man Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 The team we put out last night should be strong enough. 80% have played in the Prem for us. Our team from the other night would be far too lightweight to play up there, a Warnock side would bully them. Would need to beef the starting line up a bit and play with much more tempo. It was like a pre season game at times and if Antonio was actually able to finish, we could've been in a bit of trouble.
Leicestersaint Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 I think we can get a result there - and should try to progress in this cup.
Nexstar Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Tough one, I'd say play the kids until we reached the QFs as that's when it hots up. But looking at the Everton team they beat the other night we're going to need some bulk and experience to get past them at Elland Road.
pingwing Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 TBF Im all for giving it a bash next year but I would rather concentrate on the league this year Oh yeah League has to be a priority but if 15th is the sort of area we are going to end up a decent cup run and the off chance of Europe would be a nice bonus In answer to your question he charged £20 for Everton game - and Everton took 5,000 fans...we'll be lucky to take 500! See you there? Good news, Bates is apparently going to sell Leeds today! Might get a reasonable ticket price...
bender Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 The games are on 30/31st but we play on the previous Sunday 28th (not Sat) and Leeds play on Fri 2nd Nov at Brighton. One of us will have to play 2 games within 2 days
Sour Mash Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 In answer to your question he charged £20 for Everton game - and Everton took 5,000 fans...we'll be lucky to take 500! See you there? The normal away section that Everton fans had was charged at £28, which is their category C game price. The Everton behind the goal had a much better deal at £20. We'll most likely also be a C category game for tickets, so looking at £28 for adults and £17 for kids. Not great.
jonjapan Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Why do all our matches have to be away? Good point. Weird that we only need to win four games and Cortese has his European football... Is that correct? Would playing our best team each time in this contest really doom us to likely relegation...? cambsaint Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Well worth going for, a televised tie against one of the big clubs would bring in a few quid, even if we didn't win.

saints_is_the_south Posted 28 September, 2012 Share Posted 28 September, 2012 So when is this game going to be played then? We play Sunday so won't want to play Tuesday, and Leeds play the Friday after so won't want to play Wednesday, so which side will be looked at more favourably when they are putting their case forward as to when they want the game to be played?
