benali-shorts Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Still painful to watch midget Heath score. It's never a free kick against Reuben.
Lets B Avenue Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Now it is just a thought but was he the player who got a Saints player sent off eight years before? One of my first games at the Dell (I thought it was Stoke) and one player was getting serious abuse and my old man said that he had had got one of our players sent off while playing for Blackpool or Blackburn when the incidence happened? I am probably not being very clear! Although I said earlier I would never forget what he did' date=' I actually have At least the finer details escape me. Seem to remember 2 players getting sent off (was it Charlie George and Stevie Williams?) and loads of others getting booked. Mr Bailey was attributed with all the blame for said happenings.[/quote'] November 5th 1977. Blackburn away. Williams and then Osgood sent off. The ref had already lost it, when he gave a penalty after Ossie had made a fair sliding tackle. Bailey dived, got up and gave Ossie abuse. As he was still sat on the ground, Ossie decided to get up by using Baileys collar. An unfortunate head-butt occurred. They scored the pen for 2-0 but with 9 we dominated the last 15 mins and got a goal back. Ossie got a 6 week ban and so left the club and went to play in USA. This was a great shame as he had been in the best form of the 4 years he was here. We had to wait till April 1st for the return, although we did have a run-in with them when our train to Burnley stopped at Blackburn. Their fans, on the opposite platform, were pelted with anything not nailed down. At the return match, the ground was nearley packed 30 mins before and the abuse to Bailey started during their warm-up. The whole ground, including Grannies in the stands were joining in and Blackburn were like rabbits in headlights and we stuffed them 5-0.

So packed in fact ,I stood in that corner bit by the Archers right up against the railings. Classic abuse for Bailey and glad it continued to his Everton Days. I was on the winner in the National that day.. 50p win Lucious, not bad for a 12 year old.

edprice1984 Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Always found it very annoying when we lost to Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc - having to go to school on a monday and get loads of abuse. Living in Gloucester meant that I was also surrounded by Villa fans, grand delusions that they are/were a big team. Quite enjoyed Saturday night sending a few texts out, unsuprisingly I didn't get many friendly responses - and when I did they seemed more interested in the Birmingham game
fareham saint phil Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Any armchair supporters, who have never seen their team "live" apart from "live on TV", i have certain amount of respect for fans of others teams that actually make an effort to follow their team down to SMS as I know how expensive going to away games can be. But any other I usually say "have you seen YOUR team play live, no!! well **** off" or words to that effect, but any brighton supporter is a **** of the highest order, their hatred of us is laughable! jonesyboyo Posted 27 September, 2012 Share Posted 27 September, 2012 Arsenal. Just too many of their fans are just surrey glory hunting tw*ts. Also I was at a game in the upper west stand once at the Dell and there were loads of them in there in the home seats.
