FourFourTwo's 'Name your club's best goal ever'

This has been bugging me for a while. There was a goal scored by us whilst being managed by the Dutch. I can't tell you who scored it or even who we were playing against, but the game was on Sky and we were heavily defeated, possibly 4-1. We did score this one goal though and predictably it was a roll out by Kelvin and about a dozen or so passes which ended up in the goal. I particularly remember the commentator saying that if that goal had been scored by Arsenal they would be discussing it for goal of the season. Stretching the memories a bit I know.

Agree with the above goal and this was the best ever performance by the est ever Saints team IMO!

Nah - we lost that game with the wonder goal - you're probably thinking of the 2-0 vs Liverpool in 83-84

Channon goal vs Liverpool in 82. No contest. I was in the Archers end that day as the Milton was sold out.

Lost the game 3-2 against a very good Liverpool side. I seem to remember that it was a cracking game and Liverpool caught us on the break near the end when we were pressing for a winner.

Some great goals mentioned already. I (partially) remember one by Ekelund after a number of passes that resulted in him steering in a diving header from almost 18 yards, think it was againts Coventry...can anyone clarify?

Not a bad effort either;

If that has been scored by a bigger club they'd still be raving about it to this day. For me that is infinitely better than Rooney one against Man City the media hugely hyped up, the technique involved is incredible, even more so considering it is Rory Decrap.

MLT did so many, my personal favourite is the one away in front of the Kop where he lifts the ball over Mark Wright a coupple of times and makes him look foolish. If you wattch the Kop they applaud the goal.

Tommy Jenkins away at WHU in about 68-70 . he seemed to beat the whole team before scoring
