Cricketphilly Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 A real character sadly gone. Used to see him at Bournemouth at Saints away weekends as a kid
Foxstone Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 Yep a football man through and through with great charisma to boot... To quote him " I'm as sick as a parrot" to hear this sad news..
Whitey Grandad Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 Ah no. All the old familiar faces are leaving us.
Miltonroader07 Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 Yeah go along with that, Top Bloke
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 A scholar and a gentleman! RIP John another one of the old school gone.
Dalek2003 Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 Very big name up here in Norwich. A real character.
ART Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 A true gentleman of soccer. Thoughts are with all the family, you'll be greatly missed. Today's game owes a lot to the legacy of John Bond. R.I.P. John.
Viking Warrior Posted 26 September, 2012 Posted 26 September, 2012 John bond good lad . My recollections of him was that he missed out on the next Peter shilton . I was a goal keeper at the time and went fir a trial with Bournemouth and boscombe when he was there somehow he and his coaches made me play centre forward . I'm no outfield player . So they never saw my ability as a gk . Such is life . RIP john
um pahars Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 When Kevin Bond was here or just after he'd finished didnt John Bond used to run a greasy spoon cafe/caravan thing down on Nursling Industrial Estate???? With moving house today and missus due to give birth next week I have to confess my brain is a it addled, but absolutely positive he used to run it. RIP John Bond
rooney Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Always liked him. Last saw him a couple of seasons ago at SMS when we played Norwich.RIP.
Dimond Geezer Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Possibly the last of the cigar chomping, sheep-skin wearing managers to go. RiP

Fan The Flames Posted 27 September, 2012 Posted 27 September, 2012 Nice bloke, RIP JB. What old Saint did he sign three times?
Foxstone Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Nice bloke, RIP JB. What old Saint did he sign three times? Phil Boyer?
Golactico Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 He and Kevin also used to deliver Sandwiches to an office block I worked at in Southampton in the mid 90s. Was a bit bizarre buying my cheese & Pickle sarnies from someone so relatively famous. Shows how the money in football has changed in a relatively short period of time. Somehow I can't imagine that Harry Redknapp is currently hawking butties around the office blocks of Bournemouth. 'What sandwiches have you got left Harry?' 'Well, y'know, I'm down to the bare bones.....'
Fan The Flames Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Phil Boyer? Yes. One of my school boy hero's.
Victor Posted 28 September, 2012 Posted 28 September, 2012 Possibly the last of the cigar chomping, sheep-skin wearing managers to go. RiP Trench coat or black leather jacket more likely.
